COLLIER COUNTY: The Naples man who many local veterans refer to as a phony war hero is spending his Memorial Day behind bars. Last month, a judge ordered the 72-year-old to work in the Collier County Jail after being charged with fraud.
Most local veterans spent Memorial Day attending ceremonies throughout Southwest Florida - remembering and honoring those who have given their lives for our country and our freedom.
But Raymond Gauthier is spending his Memorial Day in jail.
Gauthier was arrested last December for fraud and charged with forging military documents to get a Prisoner of War license plate.

"I think it's an absolute disgrace that someone represent themselves falsely for service that they have not served," said veteran Bob Luparello.

P.S. Don't get me wrong I think what he did is despicable, but being a very bloody red County, I thought the question should be asked.
