RAWSTORY Report: Less than .01 % of DHS cases related to terrorism
http://rawstory.com/news/2007/Report_Less_than_.01__of_0528.html

When he announced the creation of a new Department of Homeland Security in 2002, President Bush invoked the fight against "terror" or "terrorists" 19 times in a single speech.

That's more mentions than there have been terrorism charges brought by the department in the last three years, according to an independent analysis of DHS records.

...

I was always curious about this percentage.

1. I think it was a terrible mistake to create a Dept called
Homeland Security, but you do realize that the Pubs would tell you that if that same .01 had been caught in 2001 there would never have been a 9/11.

2. Yeah I don't doubt that... my understanding is the FBI did have informants

inside the group that bombed the World trade Center in 93.

It's a bit hypothetical to take the position of if we had it in 93.

It just strikes me as ineffective program

My perspective is more in taking their budget and attaching a results produced percentage. Would it not have been more effective to give existing organizations larger budgets and better logistical capabilities (certainly now in hindsight it seem the way to go) rather then create another layer of bureaucracy?

They implemented DHS and produced NADA. At what actual cost I wonder? The FBI can handle it.
