A Personal Note of Thanks to Cindy Sheehan
By Tim Carpenter, PDA National Director
May 29, 2007

No one deserves a rest from the public eye and physical threats and media attacks than does Cindy Sheehan. We wish her well as she http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2007/5/28/12530/1525">steps back from public view. Nobody has given more to the peace movement in recent years – emotionally, physically, spiritually. And the warfare state took away her beloved son Casey.

At Progressive Democrats of America, we’d worked long and hard with Cindy well before she went to Crawford, Texas, to camp out near the President’s ranch. That action helped re-ignite the antiwar movement. It woke up the corporate media about grassroots opposition (including among military families and vets) to the Iraq war that many of these news outlets were complicit in.

Since then, we’ve traveled together nationwide organizing to bring our troops home from Iraq and for impeachment of Bush and Cheney. We’ve lobbied together on Capitol Hill, and protested outside the White House. PDA is proud to have Cindy Sheehan on our National Advisory Board.

We commit ourselves to redouble our efforts on behalf of Cindy and Casey and the 3440 U.S. soldiers and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis who’ve lost there lives in the wake of the disastrous invasion.

Cindy’s announcement is reverberating among progressives and http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070529/NEWS07/70529027/0/NEWS01">in mainstream media. I communicated with her yesterday.

Cindy, it is with deep gratitude and love that we thank you for all you have given.

9. PDA is really the last bastion of the hope of the Democratic Party.
They (and the bulk of the candidates they support) are the only thing that gives me a light within this party.

Meanwhile the rest of the party seems to be content to ride on the lesser of two evils ticket and for some of them thats a stretch.

Helder I am always in awe of your activism an dhow long you have kept at it. You are truly a marvel to watch... Give the folks at PDA some big ups.

10. Cindy, my mother loved you so much. She RESPECTED AND
LOVED YOU SO MUCH. Please, take care, my friend. My mother died Monday ten months after my dad. They both LOVED YOU and gave you the honor of turning the country against this war. You must take heart, my friend. You must do what your heart says and to hell with the rest. My parents are with Casey and
they are with you, in life and death. Please, honey, don't lose heart.

17. Its like surviving a nuclear attack. My mom had a hemmorhage
and died the next day, Monday. She was a capital D FDR dem and loved cindy. Life is so terrible. PEople who lose someone need slack. Cindy hurts no one. I pray for us all without people like her standing up and taking the heat so that peace can happen. THank you for your comments. My parents were my heros and now I'm alone. I know what CIndy feels. God bless you, Cindy.

18. My parents are my heroes. I am so lucky I still have them. I often wonder how
I'd go on without them.

Every time you think of them, they live in that thought. Write it all down. Their stories need to be written.

16. I just watched the interview Cindy had with Norah O'Donnell on "Hardball"
O'Donnell acted like the most stuck-up, snotty, "popular" girl you could imagine. What a piece of work. And her "iron voice of fury" act is a hoot. I disagree with what Cindy says about Hugo Chavez, but I have a lot more respect for her after watching her calmly withstand O'Donnell's faux outrage and accusations.
