Looking for names of those who coordinated flower drives on DU in the past...
I've done a search and have learned that ourbluenation coordinated for Elizabeth Edwards, and I have pm'd her, but I am lost when it comes to the others...

If anyone can recall or knows who has previously run DU flower drives, please pm me or post here so that I might contact them about doing the same for Cindy.

I personally do not have the time to coordinate a drive, and while I may end up sending Cindy peace roses alone, I think a DU group effort especially appropriate now, and perhaps long overdue.

Somebody suggested donations to pay her medical bills yesterday, I wish I didn't have mentalpause at times like this.

6. Yeah!! I was just about to pm you -- thanks to sandnsea.
As I stated in my opening post, I feel I need to send Cindy peace roses, most especially now, and I don't feel I can possibly be the only one. I've emailed the admins and asked if a DU drive would be possible, but I don't have the personal time to coordinate one.

If Skinner okays the idea, maybe you could share your knowledge with someone who has the time to run it?

Any ideas or names of others with experience here?

11. I'm a flower fan, BUT
As someone with health problems myself, I'd say this time a few dozen flowers and the bulk of any donation earmarked for medical, would be the better way to go. It would be nice if she could at least be brought back to a break-even status. She's got to be feeling like her life has come to nothing but a pile of debt, and wondering how in the hell she got from Scout leader to this.

10. I'd like to see a fundraising drive for her medical bills.
Maybe we can arrange it so the fund pays her medical bills directly, so Cindy can't donate the money instead (she said she's been donating all of her income to anti-war efforts).

She shouldn't be in debt. Period.

16. Well, if there is a way to earmark those donations specifically for medical bills
then that would work.

22. Kicking with update: DU's Admins have given permission to have the drive...

and ourbluenation has volunteered to locate a florist for us. I haven't responded to ourbluenation yet- I wanted to kick this thread up before I turn in tonight.

24. I only know that she is home in CA... and am waiting on helderheid for updates too!
helderheid wants to start a medical fund drive to help pay Cindy's bills - a very good thing. I originally posted looking for you or someone who has coordinated and run a flower drive on DU (and here you are!!) :) )

Maybe you two can put your heads together?

As I said, I want (and will) send Cindy peace roses, although I can (and will) donate to her medical fund as well. Now all the rest of us need is for you and helderheid to make it happen. :pals:
