My first finished knitting project! (And it's not a scarf!)
It's still just garter stitch though lol. But I am pretty good to go on stockinette, ribbing, and seed stitch now. AND, I'm practicing knitting in the round on circulars. I am hoping to get a good deal on a complete set of DPNs on evilBay later today so I can add those to my knitting education :D.

I made it for my almost 3 y/o daughter - she loves it :D.

1. Really pretty colours.....
... And the little ones look so cute in ponchos. I just picked up some 100% cotton and am going to follow in your foot steps and make dish cloths to practice much the same as you did. Good work, Katherine !
I've been trying to do the Continental knitting. practice till my hands get sore, take the dog for a walk and then practice some more. I'm sure we will both find its worth the effort and the dog is wondering why we go 'walkies' 7 times a day. :)
It brings back memories of making doll blankets for my daughters when I was first learning to knit.
Have you been to knittinghelp.com or knitting pattern central ? I think you would like it there, A really nice bunch.

Cheers, Grey

4. Another place to book mark.....
...is Knitty.com The coffeeshop is fun and lively. You have to register but it's free. Really good patterns and a
chatty bunch to ask questions. They have been a big help. It's easy to fit in over there.

7. Please do.
I go by Bina there, and there are a few other DUers there. Politics is off limits, but it's a really nice place.

11. I pretty much only read the same main forums.
General Happy, Spleen, TMI, Why do they do that, Experienced Knitters, and the yarn question one. Sometimes I cruise through the others, like Lace and Socks, but that's it.

10. Yes --
sort of -- the yarn does it automatically, different variations in the pattern depending on the width/length and all that.

12. I really want to know....
What are you knitting for your second project?
I'm thinking about a Touque. (stocking cap) I found a pattern for a touque with a lace brim,
called 'fan & feather hat' I love knitting pattern central.

13. Here's the pattern:
http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEspring07/PATTmickey.html

I'm doing it in red, but now that I've got the hang of it, I am considering doing one in bright cotton stripes, a bit longer, for my daughter to wear all summer without tights.

I'll get a pic up in a bit - I've made a couple of mistakes, one that was too far back to fix without undoing a lot of work (I think there is a way to correct it, I just have to go look), but overall it's looking quite good.

I would love to see the progress you are making, and for a second project that is amazing.

Knitters are such clever people. Cheers.
