I have crocheted for years and now am trying to learn to knit.
I love embroidery (esp counted cross-stitch) but don't do much anymore.

I also am doing some spinning occasionally on a drop spindle but I REALLY want to get a wheel............

4. I don't know what "spinning on cards" is........................
Google "drop spindle". I'd find you links but I have to run and see a client.

2. Do you knit Continental style?
My crocheters do the best with that--you hold the yarn in your left hand and the needles a lot like a hook.

I can't believe how the cost of wheels has gone up. When I got my Majacraft Rose in 2001, it was $450. They're now around $700. Crazy.

5. Not sure what I do...................I think I need a video to help me
visualize the motions and how to hold things. Photos don't seem helpful. The whole knitting process is very awkward for me right now.

10. Also, check out the Knitty.com messageboards.
Very nice and helpful people there with good links for videos and help.

I wish we could meet up at a coffeeshop or something. I could probably figure out something to help or show you how to do Continental to see if that feels better for your fingers.

3. Have you seen this site
http://knittinghelp.com/

I learned there. The videos are great, it's easier than reading print and trying to learn at the same time. I'm lefthanded so the continental videos really helped.

7. There are also many
'stitchn'bitch' groups on Yahoo. I belong to one and it's a nice group of ladies and a couple of guys too. Knitters are a helpful group and people there will encourage you and show you how to overcome a problem. I haven't been able to get out to go because of work for the last month and miss it.
