As I sailed through the air after being hit by a minivan today, I began to ponder...
...the fact that just moments before, I was quite certain that he was going to stop. The next thing that hit me, after scraping the pavement for a few feet, was how ironic it was that I wasn't even riding my scooter at the time. I was walking my dog -- in a crosswalk, with the "walk" light. He said the sun got in his eyes. Right. :eyes: He was cited.

Though I got scraped and bruised up, as did my dog, we both escaped without any fractures or head injuries (or so the X-Rays said). Which is a good thing, since I wasn't even wearing my helmet...walking my dog through the crosswalk.

Of course, if I'd been riding my scooter at the time, I'd be hearing warnings from all sides about how dangerous two-wheelers are. Go figure.

Just saying...(because I'm crabby since my leg and one of my elbows is all bandaged up right now).

2. Ouch. Glad you're ok.
I'm getting very tired of the automobile. Or maybe it's just the idiots who drive them.

8. No shit. Glad you & the pup will be okay -
It's just after breakup here, lots of bikes on the road, and the cagers haven't got used to us yet (again) after a long winter... scary.

Sad to think you'll have to wear a helmet to take a walk.....

I think mandatory training for all drivers on awareness of pedestrians, bikers, scooter-drivers, etc. should be a requirement for a drivers license.

And for those fellow bikers who haven't done so - take an MSF course (beginner, intermediate, expert) - no matter how long you've been riding, or how much riding you do, the course will teach you something new, and will put some major emphasis on how to be defensive.

They're available nationwide, and many military locations offer them as well. Check it out - they're not free, but are worth every penny of the cost.

7. Luckily, I'm limping more than she is
Although I noticed on our walks today that we are both a lot more worried about traffic...even when we have the light.
