For Robb: My new motorcycle jacket

Armored. Just wanted to know if I'm finally in the right direction. Should be here Wednesday. Does this meet with the Robb Protection Standards?

On edit: Went with the silver/white to not only match my silver HJC but to be more visible than all black.

Goddamman! You will be simply hansom in that thing. No shit, nice riding jacket. I don't know squat about riding gear myself but visibility is certainly important. My wife was following me somewhere a couple of weeks ago and when we got home she told me that she couldn't see me at all half the time. To paraphrase her my ass was invisible and she was pretty amazed nobody had run me over yet. Her suggestion was that I wear bright colors. Fortunately every Harley Davidson dealer that ever opened a door sells T-shirts in bright Orange and black lettering with a clever phrase and a picture of a buxom lass airbrushed on it somewhere. I buy them for the Orange.

Or you could just wear a t-shirt. I'm not that brave, though.

I got the mesh jacket (after buying an armored leather jacket), and it is pretty good at 90 degrees.

I read "cordura", missed "mesh". The jacket you got should be good in hot weather.

Visibility studies point to the helmet being the key point, considering riding position and such. Here's a couple of snaps to illustrate a white helmet in the fog; silver is nearly as good. This sold me:

The suit, boots and helmet are probably worth more than my 25 year old bike.

Now, my real reason for responding: What's a rectifier? What does it do? How did you know to install a new one?

The problem is mostly corrosion in the bullet connectors foolishly placed in the charging system. As the electrical resistance grows through the system, eventually the rectifier burns out. (It's an $80-ish device which turns the alternating current from the alternator into direct current which can charge your battery)
