Am I the first?
Who proposed this, you rock! :yourock:

Public transportation and smart growth are definitely subjects that need more attention.

1. Can I just add....
That I agree that who ever proposed this, :yourock:!!!

I love public transit, even though I live in a state where it's an absolute joke. But I'm obsessive about smart growth and transit, even though I live in suburban sprawl.

2. Same here.
I'm glad to see this group. It will be nice to find other people who don't look on public transportation as that icky-poo thing that only the poor, disenfranchised and "creepy" do.

3. Great idea, the choices in Orlando FL are pretty sparse, the Lynx Bus
...system and....uhmmm your legs and thumb. Even the multiple car pool lanes on I-4 have been quietly abandoned. Yet, with a typical tourist population of perhaps 200,000 highly mobile people every day and a resident population of perhaps 1.6 million in the Orlando DMA, the need for alternative public transport alternatives to the private car and rental cars is tremendous. There has been lost of discussions and studies and proposals over the last 45 years, but the highway/road lobbies and republican land grab developers have always won out.

9. My first visit to the US was to Orlando
This was before I met my American wife and moved here permanently (from England). I managed to get between the various theme parks and other attractions using the Lynx buses, but I'd imagine it's a different story if you actually live and work in the city.

6. I rode the bus to school for 12 years. I took the bus to college. I lost my virginity in a bus
So you're not the first.

8. Well, there was the rider hailing Jesus on a snowy night outside Indianapolis
I'll have to reconstruct that tale sometime. Been a few decades.

Great idea for a new forum! :bounce:

10. About Time!
I appreciate this forum being here. I had thought that those of us who wanted to discuss transit were supposed to post in the environmental/energy forum. That was a poor fit.
