My winning Bid item just disappeared???????

I was bidding on an item, placed the bid a few days ago since I work a lot and just wanted to get-in in-case I forget to follow-up...............no one else had bid as of yesterday. I checked it yesterday afternoon on my pocket-pc, as there was one more day left for the auction.... no change...... I rechecked it last night and "PUFF" it was gone... I didn't even have anything listed in "loosing bid column" nor did I get a notice of being outbidded....It just disappeared.

Then, when browsing the list of similar auction items...........BAM!!!! It was re-listed at a set cost. The initial bid did not have a starting bid/reserve.

Is that permitted? :shrug:

What is that seller's feedback like??

Sounds like a mean trick.

Here is the weak excuse.....The reason is contradicting since I was the winner essentially, and it was pulled due to the photo, yet he will give me the photo... shrug:

( the "new" listing is provided...the seller acknowledges he pulled the acution!


Hi Liberalnurse, it is because the original photo belonged to the person I bought the book from. They stood in line and got the book autographed. I cannot use there photo because of copyright laws. Now I have to sell the book without the photo they took. Everything thing else is fine. If you want the photo, it's yours as proof.

decided it was worth more than he put it up for bid at. I think that would fall into the dubious category. Not sure it's technically ebay legal.

and used that member's photos, it could have been reported by the original seller, and the item would have been pulled from auction.

If, in reading about the reasons a listing ends, the relisting rules, and you feel there has been a violation, you can report and make for cause. It could result in nothing happening, or could result in the seller losing eBay status/membership.

a warning type message. No harm was done...yet he knew I was bidding and ignored my intrest....

If he did have to close/eBay closed the listing early due to the seller's use of someone else's photos (and that person probably notified eBay that he was doing that), then what kind of warning will you be giving? Am really curious...

What was your bid as highest bidder as compared to the listing he now has for the book at the Buy It Now listing price?
(is the make offer/buy it now listing URL you posted the one that was pulled, or is that a relisting that is current by the seller? )

If he relisted the item after eBay pulled it due to misuse of someone else's photos, then he does get to start over.

Is he still using the same photos? If he is, then just notify eBay. The auction you were bidding on is gone, and there's nothing you can really do about it. But, if you suspect he pulled it to relist and make more money, then report him. To send him an email of "warning" will do nothing.

which was more than what he has as reserve now!!!!....but he didn't know this......It was at $38.00 when it got pulled.

I just would of appreciated a word and/or explanation from the seller when the item was pulled. It is sus pious until an explanation is provided....He did not respect this bidder thus he gives the appearance of impropriety. I had to inquire and seek out an explaination....It's just plain old rude!

A thought comes to mind that he wasn't getting the $$$bid as he expected so he pulled it to try again with a reserve starting bid. He apparently miscalculated... ut that is the gamble of an auction.

bid? Ones highest bid amount is not necessarily the current bid $ amount......If he did know, then that is indeed bizarre behavior.

highest bid is.But a seller can see how many people have marked an item to "watch" which means they're keeping an eye on it. You may have been the only one watching and bidding.
