I'm angry - in a hurt sort of way.
Biden gave up all his hopes and dreams over one state.
One state that does not even have a straight vote.

Personally I think what happened in Iowa was a wake up call to Hillary.
Before, she would be out on the campaign trail barking off one promise after another.
She got beat. I think her little breakdown was a wake up call to her. She knows why she wants
to be President - because she cares so much about this country. Before, she wasn't selling voters on her passion to make America better, she was trying to sell them on promises. Last nite she told NH that they helped her find her voice. I believe they did. That's why she won. imho.

Biden really wasn't that different. It was all Iraq, all the time. That boulder in the road. He is right, it is a huge boulder.
We knew the softer side of Biden. We love the man and made it our business to find out all that we could about Biden. But the average voter didn't see that from him. The passion he showed Americans was on foreign affairs. And how badly he wanted to debate Rudy.

Why am I angry? Because this morning I am thinking that if he would have waited it out, he would have seen what have happened.
And maybe he would have opened up his heart more to the voters, instead of being such a foreign policy wonk. More people would have seen the same man that we saw. And they would have loved him as we do. People don't love Hillary, the amount of baggage she carries is huge. For people that want experience in a candidate, Biden could've/should've been that person. If he only waited.

2. He was Cat Stevens when he wrote that.
I sat here and debated with myself on which name to use :)

3. Yeah, I know...
I do the same thing when I refer to him.

I thought that Stevens was (is) a great songwriter. His work got me through a lot of bad times when I was young. I admire his convictions and his decision to take on a new and different life. But I miss Cat in so many ways.

4. I just don't understand HOW waiting until NH would have made a difference.
1. He flies down to NH
2. He doesn't get to debate.
3. How else could his voice reach tens of thousands of people?

Also, with the huge younger voter turnout in IA, he realized there was a whole demographic group that he hadn't focused on enough, and every indication was that the same situation would occur in NH -- and around the country, possibly.

That being said, it would have been nice to see what happened if he'd waited.

I wonder what the deciding factor was for him to withdraw when he did....

5. I think about that debate too gateley, and can't help but wonder if
that was the deciding factor. It is really a shame that he didn't come in fourth.
Other than that, the younger crowd - I don't buy that. Hillary got the vote of the 40+ crowd yesterday. I guess in my mind, I always thought that Biden would be the alternative to Hillary. Maybe I am still clinging on to those feelings...

Doesn't matter anyway, we will never know.

6. The debate had to be a major factor
A good performance could have attract more money to the campaign and he would have been very impressive in such a setting.

But as you say, we will never know.

8. I wholeheartedly agree
I don't understand how one state can determine the future of our country. Its not right, its not fair. Iowa is one state..just one.. and like you said.. it was a caucus.. not a straight vote. People didn't even take it seriously everywhere, or didn't get to stay with their heart due to other issues.. doesn't make sense...

today at work people were bitching over the caucuses... they don't like hilary, they don't like obama..they don't like edwards...and this is in iowa city... again.. wishing we at least had a primary, i really think the numbers would have been different...

anyway...just agree with you... wishing he had stayed in...just a little longer until more of the country decided...

9. And Iowa and NH were never meant to determine the race
It was supposed to be a trial run for candidates, so they could hone their skills and get a feel for the electorate. I'm quite sure no one could have anticipated the tens of millions of dollars that would be poured into Iowa. This system has to be changed. Everyone's vote should count.
