hello
Saying "hi" to all of the great Biden supporters here. Funny that I would come here first after the bad news for us Edwards supporters. Thanks again to all of you for being such good sports and always taking the high road.

I hope when Joe dropped out people didn't do to you guys what is being done to Edwards supporters here today.

I guess as of today I am as much a Biden supporter as an Edwards supporter - maybe more so since Joe is still in office, after all.

This Obama versus Clinton race really disturbs me, and I fear we are certain to lose the general now. I had really hoped for a brokered convention - and who knows? Maybe that convention would have turned to Joe?

1. Believe me - all of us here understand what you are going through today.
Edited on Wed Jan-30-08 02:10 PM by pirhana
It's really rough - we actually had posted the 5 stages of grieving here.

Many of us have not even made up our mind still who we are going to vote for in the primary - some of us are still voting for Joe - so take your time.

Hugs to you:hug:

edit to add - we did get some real rude comments from people afterwards, infact I got one the other day.
Just ignore them. DU is soooooo ugly these days.

3. Wow
That got me misty-eyed! I am so sorry that people at GDP are being so insensitive. What on earth is the point of beating up supporters when their candidate has dropped out?

Even though our political opinions may differ, we truly know what you are experiencing and it is not something that you can shrug off and just move on to another candidate. Please feel free to drop in any time. We are almost as active here as we were when Biden was in the race and are open to any kindred souls.

5. Hi Two Americas - I'm glad you came.
I was just thinking about going out and posting a condolence thread, but I was going to check with my Biden friends first, because in all likelihood, one of them may have already done it, because we SO understand how it feels!

I think the tone has degenerated since Joe withdrew, but still, I'm surprised and sorry to hear you guys are getting grief.

We're here and we understand and we CARE what you're going through.

:hugs:

8. Stop by anytime, we feel your grief.
I don't come here everyday now, like I used to but it is so good to be able to when I need a
dose of Joe. It is still painful but is getting better and you are right it does help that Joe is in the senate.:grouphug:

9. Sorry for your loss
As each candidate drops out it feels like a little piece of us dies with it. The candidates with the real ideas and impetus for change are the ones who you don't see getting the nomination. If you read through the posts here you can see how each of us struggles with what to do. We continue to try to find a way to make sense of the whole process. We have nothing but respect for people who have also lost their candidates. Stop in anytime, as the debates we have about who to support will be the same debates that Edwards supporters will be going though. We just have a month head start one you. :)

10. the loss
I truly believe that it is not my loss, anymore than Biden dropping out was merely a personal loss for anyone here. The country has suffered the loss.

Did Biden's message get to the public? Did Edwards'? Did Kucinich's?

It is not so much a matter of which candidate is "better" - Obama or Clinton could be the next FDR and the whole rotting barrel of fish would still stink to high heaven.

11. Welcome!
It was really hard when Biden dropped out, so I know how you feel. When you are so sure your candidate can do the best for the country, it is really hard to lose them.

I still haven't firmly settled on one of those remaining. I'll support the Dem candidate in the general, but I'll do it more out of desperation than true passion or conviction.

Stop by anytime. This is a great group of people.

I am seeing you in both the Edwards and Biden forums. That is good. Before the Obama-Clinton hatefest started, I thought we were all on the same team.

13. I just wanted to let the Edwards supporters know that I knew how they felt...
and to offer sympathetic hug.

We are supposed to be on the same team. People will come together, I think, once the primaries are over. It's unfortunate that some have to get so ugly with others.

14. hello back and much sympathy... but please forgive me for what I'm about to say-
I had moved from Biden to Edwards. and as sad and depressed as i was and you are when our first choices dropped out- i'm really angry at Edwards right now.

Don't hate me, but this is the second time a candidate i actually wanted to vote for dropped out before i even got a chance to do so.

welcome to the JBSG and please make yourself to home. let's cry in our beers together.

19. I am right there with you
I am furious with Edwards, and have said so in the Edwards forum. He promised to stick it out. So many people - poor people, retired people, people on fixed incomes - were giving a lot of money to his campaign that they could ill afford based on that promise. People were traveling around the country to volunteer, taking time off work, they had hotel and travel arrangements made already, etc. So many of us defended him for staying in despite third place finishes, so many of us said he was fighting a cause, not merely running for office. As far as I am concerned Edwards betrayed all of those people.

15. haven't been on til now today
but the "hope" and "experience" supporters knocking edwards should seriously keep their mouths shut

sorry, but at least edwards was wanting to FIGHT the republicans, not sit around talking about how he wants to make nice with karl rove.

isnt it ironic that the two people front running now are touting their bipartisanship with evil while never having gotten anything done?

biden got stuff slammed through because he's a leader and he MADE republicans do it. edwards at least was willing to put his gloves on and fight.

as it stands right now, obama and hillary will lose. edwards at least would have fought for it. my condolences. john got a raw deal, and now his supporters know how all of us who support joe, richardson, dodd, and even kucinich feel.

incidently, we're the make or break coalition. neither one of the two front runners have a majority without us.

25. the make or break coalition
That is a great point.

What would you say that the Biden, Richardson, Dodd, Edwards and Kucinich people have in common? Standing for traditional Democratic party ideals and principles? Wanting to take the fight to the right wingers?

I noticed a thread that asked "if Gore were running, who would your choice be?" and Gore was winning handily last time I looked. That means that many Obama and Clinton supporters are not very solidly supporting them. Could it be that the majority of Democrats do not support either Clinton or Obama, nor their approach? If that is the case, how can we make our numbers felt?

17. that is my worry as well
The great thing about the Edwards campaign was that I could quote FDR and criticize the growing corporate control over our government and our lives in very strong terms and speak like a real Democrat and still be immune from too many attacks for being "disloyal." Already you can sense that is shifting now. I was advocating single payer on a thread, and someone accused me of not being a real Democrat becuse my opinions did not agree with the party platform! The disturbing thing is that no one came to my defense.

I don't have a preference between the two front runners. I sure don't want to get into that God awful food fight going on between the supporters of the two.

It doesn't persuade anyone, but it sure does turn people off. I think people get in the fighting-mode and don't know how to shift gears.

23. I fear we may lose the GE, too.
Sorry about your candidate. It's a major drag when you like & support someone with all your heart & then they drop out. No one else compares & it leaves you feeling that there really isn't a candidate you want. That's how I feel. I'm not wasting my time going to caucus for C or O. Bleh! I will vote in the GE, but it will be without enthusiasm.

Glad you stopped by. Hang in there!
