Maybe I should be flattered and proud of Biden,
but it pisses me off when people keep suggesting him for VP. Remember when we were saying Robin/Batman?

He shouldn't be number two to anyone.

1. Only if he's totally let loose to do whatever he thinks needs to be done
Based on what Obama said the other day about not needing ticket help with foreign policy (annoyed me) I expect he won't pick Biden anyway.

I want Joe to have whatever HE wants at this point.

2. No! He has to want what I want for him!
:7

You're right, of course, whatever he thinks is best.

I didn't hear Obama say that -- it IS annoying. In what context? How did the question come up?

3. a ? at a rally about who he's pick for VP
Edited on Tue Apr-08-08 10:19 PM by JoeIsOneOfUs
He said something like the assumption might be that he'd go for military or foreign policy experience, but that he feels like he has a good understanding of foreign policy compared to the other candidates. paraphrasing there - will try to see if I can find it (see on DU so it must be true!!)

Edit to add - boy, Biden has been a real hard one to read about what he wants, hasn't he!

4. I've heard one of his foreign policy advisors, and she's good,
but if he thinks he's of the caliber of, oh I don't know, say a JOE BIDEN, then he's fooling himself. If he really does feel that way, that's a bit worrisome.

5. here it is - slightly snotty article on Huff Post
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/mayhill-fowler/obama-says-no-to-foreign_b_95357.html

Sounds like she's not an Obama fan, but if the quote's right, I would rather he had just passed on the question.

6. Wow -
not only did he not pass on the question, he went on and on and on!

As I read it, I agree that he is sounding a little cocky. He'd better be careful -- Clinton was pretty cocky at the beginning of this campaign, too.

Even Mike Gravel said he had trouble keeping his ego in check when he was in office. Mike Gravel! So can you imagine what it does to a person's ego when thousands are packed into an auditorium to see YOU, and sending MILLIONS of dollars your way?

Something good that would come of it, though is that it will give him more confidence to go up against McCain.

Thanks for the link.

7. It did sound a bit cocky
but I suppose he has to do that, as his lack of experience has been perceived as his major weakness.

8. That can be a fine line to walk --
Biden comes across as CONFIDENT -- not cocky, and always seems as though he doesn't take himself all that seriously.

Biden. Perfect.

10. It truly is a fine line
and sometimes he appears close to crossing it. He needs to watch the body language as well, as sometimes he looks like he's looking "down" his nose at people and I know he doesn't realize what he's doing.
