WARNING - I'm including a link that is very disturbing.
It's Dodd talking about the economic situation. I want to warn you that it's upsetting, so you can decide whether or not to view it. I'm posting the link here because I love you guys and want you to know this (if you want to hear it, that is.)

2. I agree -- it is what it is, but nobody has explained what we're really facing
quite like Dodd did. And I am upset, for many reasons, on many levels.

4. He's another one I trust implicitly. I'm not familiar with all the other
people in play, so I'm glad he's involved, too.

5. I saw him on earlier, so I'm not going to click on the link, but
I am so pissed. Are any of you??

I understand why we had to do it, but what is so frustrating - upsetting- is that these corporations make huge profits off of us, but when they screw up, we have to bail them out.

And god forbid the rich should have to pay taxes.

And, how are we going to get UHC done - now that we are in debt to China for trillions?

I don't even know this country anymore.

6. I don't know much about economics and wish I knew more, but on a personal level
I keep thinking, my credit score was good enough for me to get some crazy loan on a house I couldn't afford in the last few years. Instead I was fiscally conservative and very careful, passed on homes I wasn't sure about...

Had I jumped in, could I be getting a bailout and special treatment? :eyes:

Perhaps not since it just would have been little old me.

The whole domino effect is scary in NY state too - a huge chunk of the state govmt income comes from Wall St and the state is already in a huge deficit. State agencies and colleges are facing BIG cuts.

9. My niece has her PhD in social work.
She is working with underprivledged kids with emotional problems in Chicago.
They are facing grant cuts. She is waiting to find out if she is going to lose her job.

This mess is going to 'trickle down:mad: " for awhile.

You should be thankful you were smart enough to say no to the predators.
Even if you would have gotten a bailout - the heartbreak and hassle wouldn't have been worth it.

7. I've let my "pissed" go -- and moved on to being alarmed.
As he said, regardless of what it costs us, it pales in comparison of what will happen if we don't do this. My focus now is not how we got here, not if it was wrong or not, but how we can survive. Literally. How do we survive this.

But yes, I agree with everything you say and it makes me SO angry that I want to hurt these people who are responsible. ALL of them. But before we can worry about retribution, we have to make it. As he said, it's not a matter of weeks or months -- it's literally hours or days. :scared:

And I also couldn't agree with your statement more "I don't even know this country anymore." It's not America, P. It's really not. I am so angry and heartbroken.

11. I am at the (very) alarmed stage too
I saw Dodd yesterday and that's when it started sinking in. I am a complete ignoramus on economics and finance in spite of my advanced business degree (on the technical side, so the degree is not fully undeserved) mostly by design, I hate this stuff. But Dodd really scared me. And I believe him when he says that right NOW is not the time for recriminations, etc., but the time to do something FAST. I only hope that they know what they are doing. And if you want to be scared some more, here is what Hagel that I know quite a few around here like and trust had to say about all this http://www.omaha.com/index.php?u_page=1208&u_sid=10437652

12. According to Keith it's about 7K for each person...
in the US. As I said before, this had to be done, not for the big guys, but for the little ones. However, those who created this mess need to be investigated, and prosecuted, but they probably won't be.

10. I watched it twice all the way through. Think Mt. St. Helens. Then think of
the remarkable rebirth where there was once only devastation. And the Wheel continues to turn.
