I have been absolutely buried at work lately, which has provided a healthy reduction in home computer time, but I saw the headline on Huff Post about Clinton speaking about "smart power".

ARGH!!! Biden's and other on the SFRC have been using that term for a long time. And they probably got it from academics or analysts in the field.

1. You know what's really burning my butt about that hearing?
I don't know if you saw any of it - but Barbara Boxer (whom I love - except for today) showed a pic of school girls in Afghanistan that had acid thrown at them. It is beyond heartbreaking. I can't even think about it, it hurts me too much. But Barbara Boxer has made violence against women her new issue, she was quoting some articles recently written on it, and thinks there is no one better than their new chairman because he agrees it is a major issue. Kerry wants to put together a study group on it with the women on the SFRC...excellent.

And she was on Rachel Maddow saying the same thing.

Hello? Violence against women? C'mon - can you at least give your outgoing chairman and new VP some kudos for his tireless work in that area? Wasn't it just last year where Biden got his legislation passed to include women from all over the world?

ah - whatever! Maybe we are just being too overprotective of Joe.
I mean, the end result is that they are all speaking in the same voice & adding the next chapter to what he began.

2. I think the international VAWA still needs to be passed (a Biden Lugar bill if I remember it right).

3. We definitely ARE overprotective of Joe
but I doubt that he minds if other people take up his causes, as it is the cause or idea, not the person that matters. At least that is how I believe Joe thinks. That is what makes him such a perfect VP. He will do what is right without looking for recognition, though I think one day he will finally get the credit he deserves.

4. I wonder how much Hillary
is in contact with Joe and if there are any power plays between Bill/Hill and Joe? How much will she be consulting Cupcake?

5. Hillary and Joe are friends so I don't see much power playing.
