Beau Biden is continuing to make progress in his recovery from a mild stroke, Delaware state officials said Wednesday afternoon.
Joe and Jill Biden were in Philadelphia Wednesday to be with the vice president's oldest son, who was transferred Tuesday night from a Newark, Del., hospital to Philly's Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, renowned in the region for its neuroscience work. But the White House said the veep still plans on attending a dinner in D.C. Wednesday night with Afghan President Hamid Karzai.
Beau Biden, the attorney general of Delaware, first sought medical care early Tuesday for what his doctors later described as a mild stroke that had not impeded his speech or motor skills.
On Wednesday, officials with the state Department of Justice said Biden will continue to receive therapy over coming days and that he looks foward to getting back to work soon. Officials declined to tell the Associated Press whether Biden will stay in the Philadelphia hospital during his therapy.
At 41, Beau Biden is just a little bit younger than Joe Biden was when he nearly was killed by a ruptured brain aneurysm. A senator at the time, Joe Biden recovered after surgery in 1988.
