HAVANA, Cuba, May 19 (acn) Thousands of Haitians anxiously await the opening of the first three of ten Comprehensive Diagnosis Health Centers (CDI) built by Cuba and Venezuela in this impoverished nation.

These first three modern hospitals will benefit residents in Artibonite, Les Cayes and Nippes, in the interior of Haiti, offering X Rays, ultrasound, endoscopy, electrocardiography, surgery, gynecology and obstetrics, vital support, intensive care, hospitalization, clinical laboratory, and emergency rooms, the Granma newspaper reported.

Most of these services will be available for the first time to residents, says Dr. Mercedes Maturell, who will direct the centers that will attend to some 95,000 residents in Les Cayes.

The coordinador of these health centers, Dr. Elio Ruslán Ravelo, said that 44 Haitians will graduate in Cuba in September 2009 (22 in Anaesthesia and 22 in Intensive Care) and come to work in these new centers.

Ruslán Ravelo said that the new graduates will work alongside Cuban physicians in charge of paediatrics, surgery, gynaecology and obstetrics, to gain the experience to become specialists."

1. Such good news. Haiti has been informed there are people in the world who haven't forgotten them.
How much smarter and cheaper it would have been for huge organizations to do what these two countries are planning instead of sending hordes of mercenaries to overthrow their elected Presidents, then hordes of soldiers to violently suppress the desperate citizens trying to survive in the midst of overwhelming tragedy.
