Insulza slithering now re: Venezuela- He's agreed to meet with opposition state governors and mayors
Seems like a delicate time to meet with the opposition. Seems like Insulza would want to lie low for a while and see how things work out in Honduras. One can only assume he intends to be provocative per instructions of the US.

OAS general secretary Insulza promises to meet elected opposition officials

VHeadline News Editor Patrick J. O'Donoghue reports: Organization of American States (OAS) general secretary, Jose Miguel Insulza has announced that he will hold a meeting with opposition state governors and mayors, who claim they have been victims of harassment by the government.

While Insulza admits that he has been busy over the last week because of the political crisis in Honduras, he says he is ready to receive Venezuela's opposition as soon as possible.

The opposition in Venezuela has decided to use the crisis in Honduras as a means of highlighting their grievances against President Chavez. The main grievance revolves around the government resurrecting the Capital District, or as it was known previously, the Federal District whereby the President chooses the Caracas head of government.

The Metropolitan Mayor's Office has been reduced to just another mayoralty with certain coordinating powers over other minor mayoralties in the Caracas region. Metropolitan Mayor Antonio Ledezma ended a six-day hunger strike at the OAS building in Caracas to highlight what he calls a "situation of democratic instability" in Venezuela.

Insulza reveals that he has spoken with Ledezma about the situation and the fact that employees working for Ledezma have not been paid.

Yesterday the Governor of the newly-created Capital District deposited $25 million to cover unpaid salaries and has ordered Ledezma to reinstate 2,525 employees he be dismissed when he assumed office in December 2008.

3. Diversification of the attacks on the lefties.
Keep in mind the risks of opening up of multiple fronts in a war. DU's Latin American forum junkies know the interconnection of the thinly veiled ops - the same players, the same objectives. I believe that all of this will lead to a more unified Latin America and Caribbean, and more US tax dollars spent to undermine it (the ultimate goal from a US based perspective).

4. Wow. Speechless. Why would anyone speak to these P.O.S.s.?
They just haven't figured out something the entire country learned back in 1989: they do NOT want to be ruled by ANYONE from the oligarchy ever again. NOT EVER.

They will discover they don't like the sleeping giant who has been awakened by Carlos Andres' Perez massacre if they dare cross it. They are truly tempting fate. I can't wait until they get slapped down but good for their efforts. Venezuela is NOT going back to the oligarchs' "good old days" because those days were hell for the country itself.
