Emphasis on preference for US military flights which landed at the expensene of humanitarian flights.

Amputation of now gangrenous limbs of surviving adults, children and babies including a little girl whose hand need to be amputated without anaesthetic.

Extreme likelyhood to escalating death toll of survivors from even minor injuries due to absence of antibiotics which are there but not distributed.

Exhasperation of search and rescue teams not getting there soon enough given urgent timescale.

All above obviously interconnect.

Got all of that on CNN, Fox whatever ?

1. Unbearable thinking of extreme surgery without anaesthetics. Horror.
Have heard that, too, to more than one person. Unbearable. I hope time will erase the memory for them, somehow.

Haven't heard anything about turned away supplies, and it figures. I've listened to MSNBC and CNN, no Fox.

Will add more later when I hear it.

So you're getting a lot of coverage, as well?

Be back later.

2. Our tv coverage,
Edited on Tue Jan-19-10 07:44 PM by dipsydoodle
allowing for time difference of 5 hours, is very comprehensive - almost continuous. I can also get Russian News, France 24 and Al Jazeera English etc. cos I've got satellite. Our CNN Int. difers from yours same as your BBC World differs from our home service.

Here's a note ref what I mentioned before from BBC online late this evening our time :

Haiti medics braced for wave of amputations : http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8469206.stm

:hi: and goodnight !

3. You can get most of those channels on LiveStation

Otherwise, in the US you are stuck with the major cable networks (CNN, MSNBC, that other one).

There was briefly some very graphic footage last Friday and Saturday but it has been sanitized. It might as well be the Pentagon channel now.

Oh, and don't forget the nonstop features on white American families scooping up all those "orphans".

4. On Democracy Now!, Juan reported that the military was going to
try to fly in and out at night, leaving daylight hours for humanitarian flights.
