Unasur must work “in financial and political cooperation projects, regardless of the political position of each of us. We have to put (differences) aside. Respect for each other is all we need,” Chávez said
Venezuela's President Hugo Chávez said on Tuesday that the Union of South American Nations (Unasur) should "put aside" each member country's "ideological position" and "should not feed any conflict."
During the presidential summit held in Argentina, the Venezuelan ruler mentioned Colombia, a country with which Chávez maintains a troubled relation.
"I am willing to turn the page," Chávez said. He said that Unasur members "should not feed any conflict, (but do) just the opposite."
He mentioned as an example the Presidents of Argentina, Cristina Fernández, and of Uruguay, José Mujica, who "turned the page" on the conflict faced by the two countries over the construction of a paper mill owned by Finnish company Botnia.
Unasur must work "in financial and political cooperation projects, regardless of the political position of each of us. We have to put (differences) aside. Respect for each other is all we need," Chávez said.
