Let's make a collection of the fake stories about Chavez.
The ones I remember best are the time he stole an oil rig,
http://www.forbes.com/2009/01/30/hugo-chavez-venezuela-oil-business-energy-0130_oil_rig.html

the time he stole a 4 star hotel that Venezuela was already owned

http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=CNG.aefb6f18f9ad6b45624c805cfe3bfad8.251&show_article=1

and the time he said the United States did the Haitian earthquake with their earthquake machine.

http://current.com/groups/haiti-earthquake/91965242_chavez-says-us-weapon-test-caused-haiti-earthquake.htm

I was thinking we could make a coffee table book (CHAVEZ ES EL DIABLO!) and get Swampy to illustrate it!

1. Fairy tales about Hugo

He is a "dictator." His multi, transparent re-elections never happened.

Hugo suppresses human rights. Like uribe in Colombia ...

Hugo has offered to help Iran develop a nuclear bomb by sending uranium from non-existant mines in Venezuela.

Hugo restricts freedom of the press ... tell that to the vitrolic opposition press.

Hugo has presented BP with the Venezuelan Lifetime Engineering Award.

Hugo offered Obama New York Yankees’ pitcher Chien Mien Wang in their fantasy baseball league.

Hugo called GW Bushie a "devil" at the U.N. That pissed off the devil, who said he was not in the same Bush league regarding evil. Hugo also has not met Dick Cheney.

Hugo asked John Bolton, who was in the U.N. audience, what those things were under Bolton's nose. Hugo said they looked like two caterpillars humping.

Hugo swiped EFerrari's car keyes and flung them far into Lake Maracaibo.

Hugo ate Peace Patriot's veggies and trampled her garden in his combat boots.

3. Lifetime Engineering Award !
Unlike some of the quips which have appeared else where on the subject of BP that comment really is hugely funny. Nice one.

I suppose if enough of "Hugo's Fairy Tales" could be accumulated and published it might eventually overtake Bros. Grimm and Hans Christian Anderson in popularity.

Will have to think it over better, but right away can think of the claims Hugo Chavez is anti-Semetic, ignoring the great statements made by well-known Jewish religious figures in Caracas.

It always pans out that someone's lying, once people start running down the sources.

It's standard for people the U.S. government wants to overthrow.

Will think it over some more.

By the way it's good to remember that after both Salvador Allende and Nicaragua's Noriega left office people claimed BOTH their desks had contained red silk pajamas, pornography, and champagne.

What are the chances two men hated by the U.S. government would BOTH be thrust out of office leaving behind such embarrassing IDENTICAL incriminating materials? :eyes:

8. Another one but no link yet.
Remember when the students started "marching against Chavez"? Iirc, it was in the run up to the referendum. And the media corpse reported ALL the demonstrating students as anti-Chavez students when there were two groups, one pro. The media reported that Chavez was stifling student dissent when one of the leaders was invited to speak to the legislature.

And there was an opposition student leader killed. Chavez was immediately blamed. And didn't he turn out to have been killed by his buddies that were fencing stolen public transportation passes? Is that close?

9. The opposition leader killed story was posted here with a flourish by someone
who may still post here, and as the days passed, and the investigators learned he had over a million dollars in his personal bank account and started looking into his activities they learned he had been taking those government subsidized transportation passes meant to be used by students and selling them on the black market, as well as being involved in stolen cars, and I believe, drug junk.

Can't remember his name, but he was 28 years old, a university student who was the head of an anti-Chavez group with the word "luz" in it, he was a skinhead, and his photo looked like Curly of the Three Stooges - Les Stooges Troi. Quelle a-hole.
Well, sniff, resolute look, sniff sniff, life goes on!

Here's his name: Julio Soto! Woot!

Julio, we hardly knew ye.

Concerning the student demonstration against Chavez, it's so true. This happens again and again, the press only mentioning the ANTI-Chavez marches while totally blocking any mention of the PRO Chavez demonstrations, demonstrators.

In this case they invited the anti-Chavez group to address the National Assembly where they would get a full hearing and lotsa media attention. They got flustered and bolted. They just weren't up to the challenge. It's probably because they realized they had no valid points they could defend. They fled. (I can't remember if this was near the referendum, or near the time RCTV was going to see its license not renewed for standard transmission, although it certainly moved to cable and satellite.)

They are very good at violent protests in the street, killing pro-Chavez marchers with their stupid industrial-strength slingshots with which they launch marbles (one lodged in the brain of an older pro-Chavez marcher long ago, and killed him) they are good at trapping pro-Chavez students inside buildings, building fires outside the windows to "smoke them out," cutting off water and electricity to the buildings where they have trapped the "enemy," etc., etc., etc. They are great at their idiotic, depraved violent protests, called "guarimbas," but they are unprepared to defend themselves morally.

So they stick with staging photo ops, and only involving themselves in situations which can be construed artfully to make them look good, like the group scenes of them on the escalators at the mall, all dressed up with little white hands, staying nice and cool, looking so cute, so "sincere" for the cameras to snap them for their publicity "protest" shots to spread in their anti-Chavez papers and tv news. Major assholes early in life.

Yon Goicoechea, proud recipient of $500,000.00 prize from the CATO Institute for his fine work as a student anti-Chavez protest leader!

10. Remember when the Miami Hurled printed a picture of a Ven cop "beating" a demonstrator....
Edited on Tue Jul-13-10 04:48 PM by Mika
.. who was identified as a Chavez critic. It was during the student "uprising".

Then it turned out to be a closely cropped picture that when zoomed out turned out to be a picture of a Ven cop rescuing a pro Chavez protester who was being beaten by the anti Chavez silver spooners.

This is a common occurrence for the Miaming Hurled/el Nuevo Hurled.... Fake photoshopped or cropped pics with false captions.

12. Opposition publication "Tal Cual" ran a photo of Hugo Chavez giving a speech,
with a rigged photo.

Here's the one the deviant opposition newspaper Tal Qual ran, substituting a rose Hugo Chavez held during a speech with a gun! Hey, that's freedom of expression.....

The real photo, followed by Tal Cual's photo.

Here's a small article:
Guns & Roses in Caracas, Chavez at gunpoint

Monday, Sep 29, 2003 Print format
By: Lucila Gallino and Ralph Niemeyer

An episode worthy a Venezuelan soap opera, like the one that happened last week in the Venezuelan media, can explain once again the passions and the hatred that President Hugo Chávez and his government generate not only in Venezuela but also in the rest of the world. Would it be why Chavez is -for many- the Latin American “black sheep”?

Many things happen in Caracas every day. In this city where the violence is tolerated, the media are the daily protagonists of a mediatic explosion that shakes the nation.

On Friday September 26, the newspaper “Tal Cual” ("As such"), opponent of the Government, was sent to the streets with an issue that became the scandal of the week. On the cover of the paper, President Chávez is shown holding a 9mm caliber gun on the left hand. The publication of this high impact photo is the full responsibility of the Editor of the paper, who will have to appear before the Law for falsification of information.

The "little retouch" that was done to the original photo is not as simple as changing an image for another one. In this case, a gun was digitally put in place of a red rose that had been given to the President during the First Women World Forum underway in Caracas. Chavez gave a speech at the Forum in which 190 women from 27 countries participated in support of Venezuela’s revolutionary process.

The retouching of this photomontage exceeds all boundaries of respect. On the background of the scene, there was a poster with the logo of the Forum. The logo in the altered photo was erased in order to put the photo out of context.
