Belarus thanks Venezuela's support to overcome the crisis

El Universal: Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said on Friday that his country would reduce imports of Russian oil in 2011 thanks to crude oil supplies from Venezuela and other countries.

"Next year we will probably get less than half of oil imports from Russia. We will receive the rest from other countries," Lukashenko said, according to the state-run news agency Belta.

The Belarusian President admitted that his country had a hard time when Russia decided to impose a 100% tariff on exports of crude oil to Belarus. "But we handled the situation well. All our refineries are full now," Lukashenko added.

Russia, which decided three years ago to stop subsidizing the Belarus economy, exports 20 million tonnes of oil to that country.
