Yoani Sánchez pidió a subsecretaria de Estado tener acceso a compras on line
Edited on Mon Dec-27-10 09:45 AM by EFerrari

babel fish:

Yoani Sanchez asked Secretary of State for access to online shopping

In a visit to Havana in September of 2009 to have a discussion on the reestablishment of the direct mail between Cuba and the United States, the attached undersecretary of State for Latin America Bisa Williams must have been surprised with the blogger Yoni Sanchez request to him: to raise the restriction that prevents her from making purchases by Internet.

“Do you know how much more we could do? ”, suggests the bloguera to the North American civil servant of more high level than has visited Havana in decades, alluding with the term “to be able to make” to the “fight” to overthrow to the government of Cuba by the route of the free access to the market on line. In the Cuban style, she would be translated in a “free route to the junk”.

The unusual revelation appears in a cable filtered by Wikileaks, was published Sunday at the American site Along the Malecon.

The report, signed by the Head of the Office of Interests of the USA (SINA) in Havana, Jonathan Farrar, and sent to the Department of State from the US diplomatic headquarters in Havana the 25 of September of 2009, describes the “warm” welcome that the government of Cuba gave to Bisa Williams. Also, that the undersecretary met with “dissidents”.

1. Hmmmm, they're trying to put less red-neck like people in the Interests Section...
Went to find a photo of Bisa Williams, found this:

Bisa Williams with Jonathan Farrar, current
head of the U.S. Interests Section in Havana.

They do look far more intelligent than the crap Bush sent there.

(You should have warned us before posting that scary photo of a Yoanni-note!)

Thanks for the news on this attempt by Yoanni to run Cuban affairs herself.

3. Sorry about the Yoani buck!
And I didn't / don't have time to translate the whole thing but got a kick out of her being outed for what amounts to a charge card a la Palin. :)

5. OK, so Yoani Sanchez wants to purchase stuff via the internet
What's the big deal? There's a lot of stuff available via the internet. For example, she could buy used books from Amazon.
