Uribe asks to be considered a victim in FARC investigation against Piedad Cordoba

Ex-President Alvaro Uribe asked to be considered as a victim in the FARC investigation against former liberal Senator Piedad Cordoba, Caracol Radio reported Wednesday.

An investigation was launched against Cordoba stating the Nobel prize winner has ties to Colombia's largest guerrilla organization, the FARC. The investigation is believed to be supported by alleged evidence from a FARC commander's laptop which Colombia's Supreme Court has ruled inadmissible as evidence.

Uribe went before the Supreme Court to request that he be considered a victim in the investigation. It is likely that Uribe's action was motivated by his previous attempts to view the government's case against ex-Senator Cordoba. The court denied Uribe's previous request on the grounds that he wasn't a victim.

It is not known whether the court will grant Uribe's application for victimhood.
