FYI Parents: Gender Spectrum Family Conference (September 4-6, 2009: Seattle)

This one-of-a-kind national conference is devoted to the needs of families raising kids who do not conform to society’s traditional gender expectations. We invite you to immerse yourself in informative and thought-provoking programming, connect with other families, and enjoy access to national experts in the field of gender variance.

Gender Spectrum Family Conference

The 3rd Annual Gender Spectrum Family Conference will take place
September 4 - 6, 2009 in Seattle, Washington, USA.

We began this ground-breaking conference to meet the increasing need for information and support for families raising gender non-conforming, gender variant, and transgender children and adolescents. The conference brings together people from all over to connect with one another, meet with experts in the field, share our stories, find support, gather current information, and come to a better understanding of our journey as parents.

Our children have the opportunity to meet and learn from one another as well. We have workshops for teens, and supervised activities for younger children. Meeting other gender non-conforming children and teens helps to give our children a sense of belonging, and to clarify their own personal experience. No two children are alike, and for gender variant kids, this opportunity can help solidify who they are, as well as who they are not. This can be invaluable for kids as well as parents — knowing that you and your child are not alone is empowering for the whole family.
