What does it say about our nation that the Republicans' strategy seems to be working
At this time last yr, I was again in love w/ this country. Now, I'm just shaking my head. It's scary to think about the Republicans being in charge again. I mean these people are basically calling for more racial profiling and many parts of the country have no problem w/ that.

1. That its really easy to manipulate the dem base into think someone can flap their arms faster
...to save a crashing airliner?

Looking at the facts it's safe to say some folks expectations where misplaced

and their efforts to politicize the incident on Christmas Day are backfiring.

3. What's their strategy? Color me curious, but besides going
negative and obstructing everything, I don't see a strategy.

5. I don't consider that a strategy, but have at it. And sure, they'll win
some seats, but I think you're being premature in thinking their 'plan' is so successful.

16. Thanks DJ13
Finally, someone amongst the partisan bickering has some kind of understanding of how this works.

The Dem's didn't have any strategy in '06 either. The Republicans were just messing everything up and the Democrats were the alternative.

That's how it works. The Republicans don't need a strategy.

You get the football, you run with the football till you drop it.

The Democrats haven't dropped it yet. Not even in '10. They've got too much of an advantage in both houses to lose control in either. They won't be filibuster proof in the Senate any more, but that rarely comes about for either party anyway.

The Democrats haven't dropped the ball yet, but they're not doing such a great job of holding onto it.

7. I think it's working because "our team" wants it to. Notice how every time someone on the left
criticizes Obama, the DLC-ers are there to say "Would you rather President Palin?"

What would they do if the R's were not so crazy? They would have no excuse to be "pushed" to the right during processes like healthcare reform.

Do you remember the President making any kind of strong statement condemning the teabaggers, or their logic? I seem to remember him using them to equate "his friends on the left" with a band of lunatics.

10. If the R's werent so crazy
the center would move to you and people to the left of you would have the whine dial set to "Non-stop" just like you.

15. i do, and i know the only way to accomplish that
is to repeatedly elect progressives and never do anything to tear down the best possible option. The obvious truth is that 3 decades of liberal control of the WH and the senate is the only thing that will move the center to the left. When people feel the benefit, they will know.

8. Strategy??
You mean doing nothing except trying to stop others from doing good is a strategy, then I guess it is a strategy, but I don't see how anyone can think it is in any way "working" To what end do you see it working, please elucidate, thank you.

13. That the democrats that have been elected to office
do not have the first piece of spine. They are so damn busy trying to bend over and appease the republicans, they have forgotten they are democrats and are supposed to work for us democrats.

14. The Republican gift is coming soon....
The Republican strategy of NO! could have been so easily defeated by our Democrats had they enacted bold, substantive, and helpful legislation.

Can anybody say health insurance reforms starting in 2010/2011 with a leveling of the playing field for all Americans?

How about significant and immediate investment in railroads and mass transit?

How about an energy policy?

How about jobs? And financial reforms....and and and and.....

I look back over the past six months and Dems have little to show for it.

And soon they will enact insurance mandates paid for with tax increases. Mandates with no choice for people to buy from anybody but the scummy insurance company.

Republicans will take back the House and maybe the Senate on this issue alone!

What a waste these Democrats are! What a bunch of greedy, self-centered cowards.

17. I think if the GOP wins
It has more to do with democrats failing to live up to expectations and trust given to them, than it has to do with them having a bold strategy.

The only asset the democrats have right now, is Republicans are too stupid to shut the fuck up.

19. Strategy? They have nothing to but complain...
Pretty odd strategy.

They have put virtually nothing on the table that can be considered "new", if this is their "strategy", it's probably the worst one they could have chosen.

The few things they have put up, have been soundly beaten to death, and no matter how anyone looks at it, the "legacy" of bus/cheney hangs heavily overhead. I don't think they are going to make any gains in Congress...if they do, they will be marginal.

Of course, the situation still demands that D's come out in foce at the polls in 2010...there is never an excuse for not voting.
