Emanuel: U.S. Is Fed Up With Israel, Palestinians
White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel recently told the Israeli consul in Los Angeles that the Obama administration is fed up with both Israel and the Palestinians, Army Radio reported on Wednesday.

Emanuel met with Jacob Dayan, consul general of Israel in Los Angeles, about two weeks ago, after which Dayan briefed the Foreign Ministry.

Emanuel told Dayan the U.S. is sick of the Israelis, who adopt suitable ideas months too late, when they are no longer effective, according to Army Radio.

White House: Emanuel didn't threaten to walk away from peace talks

White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel denied reports that said he is fed up with Israel and the Palestinians, a White House aide told Haaretz on Wednesday.

The White House aide emphasized that Emanuel's statements were distorted. "He expressed frustration with the lack of progress with the peace process, but he certainly didn't threaten to walk away from it. The allegations are completely ridiculous," the aide said.

According to reports, Emanuel told Dayan the U.S. is sick of the Israelis, who adopt suitable ideas months too late, when they are no longer effective.

The U.S. is also sick of the Palestinians who never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity, Emanuel reportedly said.

Emanuel added that if there is no progress in the peace process, the Obama administration will reduce its involvement in the conflict, because, as he reportedly said, the U.S. has other matters to deal with.

5. The more I learn about Israel the more upset I get.
They'd be better of settling this before I learn too much to ever give them a halfway favorable opinion.

8. Netanyahu and Bill Clinton Had a Very Rocky Relationship
and I recall reading an article which stated that the Israelis did not like Rahm's presence at the Wye River meetings in 1998.

While Rahm is an observant Jew and lover of Israel, he hasn't been shy about calling them on their stuff and folks listen when Rahm calls them on their stuff...

13. Is that due to his screaming fits?
folks listen when Rahm calls them on their stuff...

The guy has a well-established reputation for verbally abusing everyone within earshot. I don't know if that counts as having people listen.

There's some interesting history between Emanuel's family and Israel
Source, BBC: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7702408.stm
Rahm Emanuel's father, Benjamin, is an Israeli-born doctor who was once a member of the Irgun, a hard-line group which fought for Israeli independence until 1948 as was branded as a terrorist organisation by the British colonial authorities.

The prospective chief-of-staff himself volunteered to serve in Israel's army during the first Gulf War of 1991 - rust-proofing brakes in northern military bases, Israeli media reports.

11. Hey, that's funny--so is most of America.
I'm almost tempted to say "let them just kill each other".

12. This kind of "even handed" disgust tends to be much harder on one party than the other
I think it's not too hard to understand why that would be.

Only one country is an occupier in this situation. Only one country is stealing the other's territory day by day and foreclosing on the other nation's future existence.
