Is there even an election today? To hear the MSM, and I mean ALL THE CHANNELS
Edited on Tue Jan-19-10 09:04 AM by LaydeeBug
Brown has won. Cripes, George Stepho was even saying that this is the biggest upset of his adult lifetime. Two seconds alter, and a flick of the channel, and another reporter was saying that "a veteran campaign reporter has already said that is the biggest upset of his adult lifetime. Are you fucking kidding me? I think the Diebold fix is already in, and that is why the MSM is walking lock step. But then again, I'm a wee bit conspiracy minded. I think they stole it in 2000 too.

14. Funny...that's what the RWers say too.....
The media is playing up this story because it's more exciting than "Democrat wins a Democratic seat", and because Brown HAS overcome a deep deficit to tie the score. The narrative delivers an audience which delivers commercial viewers, which is all the media outlets (Fox an Talk Radio excepted) want.

5. This kind of coverage is voter suppression and it should be illegal.
They are trying very hard to discourage Dems and make them feel why bother going to the polls if we already know she lost.

6. I have already said this
Yes why do we vote...we should just ask the MSM to tell us what the republican owned pollsters tell us who is going to win and just don't show up.

If there is a 'liberal media', I sure as hell don't see it (with very few exceptions, like Keith Olbermann or Rachel Maddow--and they probably wouldn't let them stay on the air if they didn't have such high ratings for MSNBC). *shakes head*

If I were a MA resident, I would sure fucking resent my state's election being virtually called before I had a chance to vote..hell I resent it FOR them! I hope this tactic backfires and these assholes all have faces covered with egg tonight. :grr:

8. channel 5 news didn't even think of asking Gail Huff (Scott Brown's wife),
a reporter for the news station, to take a leave of absence for the duration of the election. And this and the other local stations are the ones declaring a winner already.

10. OMG! Maria Shriver did the right thing. I am truly shocked and amazed
Future potential First Lady of Mass given air time as reporter and no one complains? Does that even begin to pass a sniff test? I see that airtime as a donation of media services by the TV station.

I can't believe this is the first I'm hearing of this. Is this legal?

12. There is even more than one election today
Here in Oregon we have two tax issues being voted on, to raise the corporate tax rate and the rate on high earners. But such issues simply do not matter in the face of personality politics and MA's one seat for two years contest. Oddly, when we elected a brand new Democratic Senator to replace a sitting Republican last year, no one noticed much. We won a fresh seat, replaced a Republican. You're welcome.
So yeah, there is an election today. More than one.

19. Everybody wants to be first (or at least not last) in getting their sound byte in!
Of course the real attention grabber will be the one who suggested yesterday the polls were not accurate, and that Coakley was going to win and win big.
