I just saw an ad on tv by the Chamber of Commerce telling me to call Congress

and tell them to "StartOver and get health care reform right." The # was 202-224-3121. I called and told my Senator (Gilibrand) NOT to start over, but to keep going, trying to pass this bill-with a public option. If any of you could do the same for your senators, I'm sure it would help. TIA.

What would possibly motivate Congress to do better in 5 or 6 years, after getting away with this year's behavior?

The American People have accepted nonsense about healthcare for 70 years. We look int wonder at countries like China where we see the people abused by government and wonder why they accept it, yet we actually have the power in our own hands to throw out a government that manifestly acts against our interests and we do nothing. Which population exhibits more mind control?

Under any hypothetical you can muster, tell me which 218 representatives and 60 Senators will vote in favor of single payer. You can even use extortion or bribery if you must, but you have to envision SOME scenario where you can get the votes. Unless you can, it's not a starting point for negotiations at all.

Throwing out the corrupt Congress will establish in a way even they understand that the people control their employment. If that doesn't prompt a strong progressive agenda, we do it again in '12. The message will certainly be clear by then and we can still get a good bill running by 2014 instead of this sellout of the American People being considered now.

which is going to be a 5-6 year wait, but best of luck finding 60 solidly progressive Senators in a country where Obama only wins 28 states. If you're allergic to math, that's only 56 Senators, at best.

If we took only the good parts of both bills, we still wouldn't have reform, and I'm damned sure the good parts are the ones which will be protected.

It's a bad bill, it's worse than nothing, it's a step in the wrong direction.

The president, my representative, and one senator, have all stated that starting from scratch single payer universal health coverage would be the best approach, but to paraphrase, they don't have the requisite testicles to deliver it.

I say, "why don't the American People deserve the best from their government?" and you say you'll settle for less. Do you think that you deserve a third rate approach, or do you just think that insurance and pharmaceutical executives deserve to make obscene profits with special facilitation from Congress?

If the Democrats wont press for the best, they aren't my party, if the Republicans wont participate they aren't my party.

Until I have a party focussed on a Progressive agenda, I have no party to vote for, so I will just vote against all incumbents until I am represented.

My suggestion for the Democrats if they want to hold a majority, is to find challengers for every Congressional seat because some will still give the nod to an unknown democrat over an unknown republican. But once a democrat represents me like a republican, his party affiliation is no longer of any use.
