Critics assess Obama's speeches
"He is still a very eloquent, articulate speaker," Sorensen says. "He is clearly well informed on all matters of public policy, sometimes, frankly, a little too well informed. And as a result, some of the speeches are too complicated for typical citizens and very clear to university faculties and big newspaper editorial boards."

There is truth to that... people want quick simple answers.. and when they do not get them.. they make them up and then try and say the President said this or that... and it just is not true.

3. It really does worry me that we are so reactionary before the fact
and unable to listen to a complex idea or approach.

7. It is sad that we have allowed this idea to perpetuate in this county.

I challenge my daughter everyday to think above her level at 5 years old. We have complex discussions, like if there is other life in space, what it means when we die, what happened in Haiti. I think she has progressed past some adults in this country.

8. The need for shorter and shorter news cycles is telling..
We have gone from lengthy newspaper articles, to news via the tv in half hour increments.. to news at headline only shows.. to thinking that commentary is news
