Obama needs to schedule more of these face to face meetings....
Edited on Fri Jan-29-10 01:41 PM by steve2470
IMHO, he kicked ass today. Any fair observer of this meeting saw his sincerity and willingness to work with the GOP.

on edit: I'm referring to his televised meeting with the House GOP caucus today.

2. question time usa...
i never even thought it was possible to suggest it. he just destroyed years and years of presdential protection of the office by taking the fight directly to them. that was the most impressive use of presidential political power i've ever seen in my life.

4. Agreed but less media
I agree, and Obama comes across as intellectual, interested and fair minded. But I feel he needs to expand his interaction but reduce his presence in the media and have both recorded and non recorded meetings. Too much of a good thing turns people off.

When it comes to media events the skepticism in me sees too much orchestration and too much posturing not enough candor. It happens from both Parties. If we can get people talking as humans instead of political Parties it might help get stuff done.

7. Sorry, but we need witnesses......
and the American people are the best ones to judge...
not the media and certainly not the unnamed sources
that would be creeping out of the seams in the walls.

So you are incorrect. Totally.

8. I respectfully disagree. We need to continue to shine the light on these cockroaches.
If the cameras were not there, everything that was said would be misconstrued by the media. They will still try, but the evidence is now on record for everyone to see.

13. That was awesome
points I've heard both sides talk of were present and actual debate began to take place. Not like on News shows were one side owns the station and filters the news through their political slant. I'd like to see less of the blaming and posturing and more actual debate of policy ideas. Hope that happens in future meetings soon.

I only got to see it because I'm home from work. It would be nice if it was available in it's entirety for people to view online. Do you know if it will appear somewhere?

14. Are you kidding?
By putting himself out there it gives him some control back over what will be said about him. He needs MORE exposure if anything.

10. It serves ZERO purpose, the GOP viscerally hates him and all things democratic.
Edited on Fri Jan-29-10 01:54 PM by ShortnFiery
They only respect POWER and positions of STRENGTH. It's beyond time President Obama embrace lessons of the Social Sciences and realize that he's dealing with sociopaths vice fellow intellectuals. They ALWAYS must be "dealt with" from a position of power lest they FIND UNSCRUPULOUS WAYS to "get even."

Between "intellectual reasoning" and "anti-social schemes" my money's on the latter to WIN.

11. "Openquestions" is trending on twitter
Do an American version of Questions to the Prime Minister. LET the republicons ask questions of the President. And LET the President shoot them down. Over and over again.

twice a month, for an hour or so. It would beat the hell out of ALL of the Sunday talk shows.

on edit: and just imagine how mightily either Bush would have sucked at this format.

night to dispense with the weekly radio message and reserve time on television instead. But this meeting with the GOP is even better!
