Sullivan: Republicans war is not on Al Qaeda. It's on Obama

In a matter of months, both leaders of the Qaeda-allied Taliban in Pakistan have been targeted and killed by US drone attacks. The latest was in retaliation for the murder of CIA officials in a suicide attack by a double agent who turned on the US. If you add this record - and there are many examples of similar surgical strikes decapitating Qaeda figures in the last year - to the ramp-up of forces in Afghanistan and overhaul of strategy there, I think you can make a very solid case that in the war on Jihadist terrorism, Obama is proving far more effective - in both soft and hard power - than the Bush administration ever was.
The Republicans will not concede this, because their war is not really at this point on al Qaeda. It's on Obama.
2. Watch for right wing claims of "civillians" dead...
I've seen a few strikes characterized a few ways. That doesn't mean a given claim is wrong, but it does mean that claims can have political motivations which influence the accuracy of reporting.
4. The most under-reported story of the first year....
.... now there are DOWN sides to reporting it as well. But I'd venture to guess that most of al qaeda would disagree with the notion that "Obama hasn't done anything."
7. K&R - Not just Obama - they are at WAR with the American People
all their pro-corporate bullshit and filibustering EVERYTHING - they care nothing for this country, nothing for its people - all they care about is $$$ and only HUGE mega-corporations make enough of it for them to give a fuck. :puke:
They've already been raking Obama over the coals about his decisions to reverse some of Cheney's (anti-)terror policies and restore some semblance of the rule of law by trying some of the suspects in civilian courts, as well as the Ft. Hood shooting and "underwear bomber" and will be positively gleeful (though they will definitely try to hide it) if and when AQ or some (un)affiliated kook decides to attempt another attack so that they can use it as another excuse for them to unleash the Cheneys to attack Obama some more and call for a more or less permanent establishment of Cheney's (anti-)terror practices. IMHO they are NOT interested in working with Obama to help improving our intelligence and counter-terrorism capabilities but rather exploiting real and/or perceived security lapses to hang around Obama's neck so that they can worm their way back into power.
