The GOP are much better at sound bites and exploiting the stupidity of the American Public!
We give the public facts, numbers and actual information. They are too busy watching "The Bachelor" to hear it.

The GOP gives them panic, fear and lies and the public is too busy watching "American Idol" to research it.

I am honestly thinking the average american is too stupid or apathetic to actually make informed decisions.

2. I find it very telling
that the same people who respond to televangelists usually respond to the GOP, and how they seem oblivious to the way they are being blatantly manipulated.

3. Actually the Dems are not that bad at sound bites, it is just the media hardly shows them.

4. Too many people have been primed by effects of Reagan and friends
Edited on Thu Feb-04-10 01:04 PM by andym
to think the following Reagan conservative beliefs:

1) government is inefficient and corrupt
2) given 1, government spending is not desirable
3) given 1, there should be almost no taxes
4) pure free market is the American Way
5) given 1 and 4, there should be no regulations on business

so, when they hear ideas for progressive programs , they can be directed by the media to be seen in a negative light by referring to these underlying beliefs.

so, everything that might actually help the country achieve progressive change is blocked by people electing representatives who cater to these beliefs.

The idea of an efficient, smart government that regulates business to prevent excesses and helps guarantee basic human rights, provides social services (especially health and minimum financial well-being), and stimulates economic growth by development of new science and technology needs explicitly to be promoted.

6. The said part is we know this and we actually have the information to counter it, but we don't
People like Drew Westen have cracked the code of how Republicans get people to believe things that go against their interests. Yet somehow the Dems continue to live in Kumbaya land where you don't have to counter these things.

8. I don't get how people let them get away with
this whole "fiscal conservative" thing when they spend money just like Democrats or worse depending on the issue in question. The last surplus we had was under Clinton, not Bush, yes?
