This is the message I just emailed to Obama, Reid, and Pelosi.
Edited on Sat Feb-06-10 02:10 PM by RBInMaine
"Dear President Obama, Majority Leader Reid, Speaker Pelosi,

I am a lifelong Democrat and an officer in my local Democratic municipal committee.

Unless you ACT VERY FORCEFULLY and GET THINGS DONE, you will LOSE badly in 2010 and possibly in 2012. Plain and simple. You were hired in 2006 and 2008 to ACT. Instead, there is wide perception you are floundering around, lack cohesion, lack a clear message, and, most of all, lack ACCOMPLISHMENT. THAT is largely why the Republicans won in VA, NJ, and MA. Not that people suddenly love the Republicans, but because they are not getting the action they voted for. The Republicans have decided obstruction is their way back to power. End of story. So ROLL OVER THEM and ATTACK them as the obstructionists that they are. You have everything to gain and nothing to lose. Be STRONG. Be BOLD. Be FORCEFUL. Act like you won two elections. Stop WASTING time trying to work with Republicans when there is NO HOPE that they will work with you. Either LEAD and ACCOMPLISH or you will LOSE badly in 2010. The people want CLARITY, LEADERSHIP, and ACTION. PASS popular healthcare insurance reform measures. PASS a new jobs stimulus. PASS banking reform. PASS a new campaign finance bill. PASS an energy bill. Do it all through reconciliation if you have to. Bottom line, DO THE JOB YOU WERE HIRED FOR, OR YOU WILL BE FIRED. GET IT DONE !

Thank you."

* Note to DUers, I will not help do the "firing" but the independents and even some moderate Dems will, and too many "progressives" will by staying home. So they need to cut the bullshit, smash the god damn RePukes in the face, and steamroll the agenda right over their sorry pathetic asses. I couldn't begin to hand these people more ammo to use against the RePUKES. If Dems ACT, we win. Continue to piss and piddle around, and we lose. And they will deserve it. They weren't elected to frig around. They were elected to LEAD and ACCOMPLISH. Fail that, and you get fired. We need Patton right now, not Mr. Spock.

2. You were a lot nicer than I was. I wrote all three and asked if they were
men or mice? I asked them to grow a pair of balls. I told them I would not vote if they didn't pass a bill for healthcare. If I wanted a professor I would have gone to college. I want a leader in the form of LBJ who twisted arms and got things done. If the president or congress couldn't do that than I will sit home. Why bother going to vote if you aren't going to do the job.

3. I don't agree with sitting home, because the PUKES are even worse, BUT I like the rest.

What in Obama's personality and life story led you to believe he would be a mean you know what in the mold of an LBJ or any other strong, forceful leader?Until we have personality transplants we are stuck with Obama and his personality. You can't make a racehorse out of a jackass or vice versa.

4. It is beyond pathetic to attack the Republicans as "obstructionists" when....
The Democratic Party has:

*The White House

*An 18 vote MAJORITY in the Senate

*A large MAJORITY in the House

*A huge MANDATE for "CHANGE" from the American People.

The PROBLEM is NOT the Republican Party,
and targeting them will NOT solve the REAL problem.

"There are forces within the Democratic Party who want us to sound like kinder, gentler Republicans. I want us to compete for that great mass of voters that want a party that will stand up for working Americans, family farmers, and people who haven't felt the benefits of the economic upturn."---Paul Wellstone

8. Yep. It's just their cover
The fact is that the Dems made many political promises to their corporate masters. They can't fulfill both those promises and the ones they made on the campaign trail. The only way to keep one set and not the other is to play the "we're victims of the GOP and blue dogs" card. That doesn't fly. BushCo rammed through their agenda even when they didn't have the house and Senate. Where there's a will...but there isn't in this case.

11. Absolutely.
I stopped being mad at the pukes for just doing what I expected them to do all along.

It's the Democratic Party that has completely dropped the ball and let us down.

What do they call that syndrome where you start to sympathise with your abductors?

12. Well no, but ok, we could say "The Just Say No To Everything Party." You are getting caught up on
Edited on Sun Feb-07-10 09:12 AM by RBInMaine
semantics. The point is that the RePUKES are trying to say NO to everything and trying to filibuster everything in an unprecedented way to make the Dems look ineffectual, and if they succeed it will work and the PUKES will win in 2010, ironically, for doing NOTHING. And so here is where we entirely agree: The Dems need to act like they won two elections, keep calling out the PUKES as the "JUST SAY NO DO DOTHING PARTY" (They need to PUSH that NARRATIVE !), and steamroll over them even with reconciliation as often as necessary. The Dems need to strap on some balls and LEAD and ACT and ACCOMPLISH and put the DO NOTHING LOST IN THE PAST RePUKES on the defensive. If they fail in that, they will deservedly lose this fall.

16. The reason
Most likely the reason the Dems are not steamrolling over the Repubs is that there are a number of Dems leaders who think that the country is not as much behind some of the reforms as you do.The country is very conflicted and divided. There may be polls showing a certain percentage of people are for changes in health care but there is NOT a large majority of Americans who feel very strongly about one particular plan .By taking too long to pass a plan it allowed the Repubs to muddle everything up and spread fear and confusion among the people.

5. I've written many letters under the "contact us" section of Whitehouse.gov
I've echoed many of the same things you have...I also mentioned to keep up with judicial nominations, as there were only a small handful of confirmations last year...Now, no doubt this is in part of the Rethug obstructionsts, but President Obama should make recess appointments and/or use the nuclear option to get some of these judicial postions filled...

You are so right.
Candidates need to give nice speeches, hope and promises to get elected.
Elected officials NEED TO DELIVER.

will blow their large majorities come fall and will deserve it. The writing is all over the wall. So you can save your sarcastic bullshit and consider doing like me and pressure the Dems to grow some balls and start acting like they won two elections with a clear mandate. Fuck the RePUKES ! Steamroll over these asshats ! Fucking LEAD ! That is what the people want. The word ALL OVER the streets of this country is that the Dems have NO BALLS and can't get the job done. So they will be fired if they don't get it done. End of story.
