Should have known FOX would leap to the defense...

Fox News: Palin’s ‘Telepalmer’ Notes Were A Clever Plot To Call Attention To Obama’s Teleprompter

" I think she did it on purpose. I think she did it on purpose, yeah. Because it’s an exact opposite of reading off the teleprompter with a script written for you with every word in a sentence and here’s she’s just taking crib notes on her hand. It makes her look like she can just talk off the cuff"

2. She can't even talk off the hand, never mind the cuff.
And she didn't do it on purpose--the hypocrisy of this situation is completely lost on her while she merrily bashes the President because he used a teleprompter to give the State of the Union.

3. Talk off the cuff?
You mean talk off the hand- right?

And, I think Obama knows how to do that as well.. you Republicans DID see him chatting with the GOP in Baltimore about a week ago, right? No Teleprompters.. no Sharpie on the hand. Just him using his brain and destroying your party...

8. Yeah
I would think that his performance at that Q & A session over a week ago would put any questions as to how much he needs a teleprompter to rest- but then again, I think that they'd rather forget that that devastating Q & A session ever happened in the first place.

4. Oh brother
Do they REALLY think that people actually care about Obama (and several presidents before him- both Democratic and REPUBLICAN) using a teleprompter?

:wtf:

*sigh*

Disclaimer: Rhetorical question only. I KNOW the answer, unfortunately.

NEVER to one of their own. That should be pretty clear to everybody by now.

5. backlash journalism
I remember a time when Bush was attacked and ridiculed
over the teleprompter and the bump on the back thing
he wore.

Whenever a rightie is attacked, ridiculed, or criticized
for anything, the rightwing media juggernaut backlashes
it against the opposition.

It's nuts, I know, but the media is rightwing and the
backlash mentality is in full swing.

13. I don't recall Bush being ridiculed or criticized about using a teleprompter
I must've missed that one. As far as the "bump" on his shoulder during his (first?) debate with Kerry in 2004, did anybody ever definitely figure out what that was, anyway? A lot of people suspected that Bush might have been "wired" for that first debate (which, if he was, it sure didn't seem to help him much). The media, of course, never looked into the matter and I'm not even sure if anybody in the media EVER asked him what it was. I would buy an innocent explanation for it but I guess unless Bush or his former aides ever discuss it (extremely unlikely), I guess we'll never know for sure.
However, regardless of who is in office, using teleprompters to deliver long speeches (i.e. SOTU) is a non-issue as far as I'm concerned.

17. bushes handlers smirked and shrugged it off.
They said it was a badly fitting suit (a $3,000 'badly fitting suit'? I don't think so). I've seen drawings here of something similar looking in a medical device. I remember reading that the photographers were told not to shoot stupidface from behind during that debate.

10. Lyda Green, former state Senate president (a Republican),,
Edited on Mon Feb-08-10 04:08 PM by Blue_In_AK
on Shannyn Moore's show just now stated that Sarah always used a teleprompter during her state of the state speeches, etc., before the Alaska Legislature, so all this slamming of teleprompters is purely for effect (as if we didn't know).

She also made a point of telling any listening teabaggers that they should be prepared to join the Alaska Republican party under Sarah's bus as Sarah is ONLY in it for herself, not because of any loyalty to party or group.

As I said here over the weekend, she has proved herself not to be the person that Alaskans thought they were electing in 2006, and she is not now the person teabaggers think she is. As soon as they help her get what she wants, they will be discarded like everyone else who has ever helped her.

16. The Teleprompter BS is just stupid. I can't wait until someone explains
what's the fucking difference in reading your speech off your paper and reading off the prompter? There is no difference. The Teleprompter is just for people who don't want to keep looking down at paper.

There is no better indicator of speaking off the cuff. Than in Press Conferences and individual interviews. Both of which the President breezes through.

19. Lets see these people use/used teleprompters
why is it wrong for Obama to use one

Presidents, Bush Jr, Clinton, Bush Sr, Reagan. That we know of
CEO's of companies
Politicians giving speeches
Governors giving speeches
Movie Stars
Sport Stars

and that's just a few. Even the everyday people giving speeches who have access to them use them. What I want to know is why Obama is not supposed to use one. Palin is such a dope she probably had stuff written on the underside of the speakers stand, on everything she could find to write it down. And then she got 9/10 of the info wrong.

What is telling in this is...there are stupid people in this country who know she is ignorant, a hate monger who urges people to violence. A racist and most of all a big fat LIAR. And yet they worship at her feet. So this tells us that there are people out there who feel the say way she does about this great country of ours.. they all want to continue to trash it like bush and cheney did. I consider them worst than Palin.

21. Lots of people are claiming she gave her 40 min. speech with NO notes except for the words written
Edited on Mon Feb-08-10 07:25 PM by jenmito
in her hand even though she CLEARLY brought PAGES of notes to the podium. Anyone can watch the video and see that. The video ALSO shows that she read her hand during the Q&A session-not during her speech. But that doesn't stop the RWers. Look what a couple freepers wrote (which many repeated in different words):

What the MSM doesn't understand is she can give a 45 minute speech using notes on her hand because what she believes is written on her heart.

Obie on the other hand isn't a person of true conviction and has to be told from day to day WHAT TO BELIEVE.

My theory is that she did this on purpose. Sarah is a GENIUS..I mean look, if she wanted to hide what was written on her hand she could have, but she showed it..I think she was sending a message to the liberal punks out there. She knows they have no life, look at these buffoons, this is what they are obsessed with. Notice they can’t go after WHAT she said since everything she said was SPOT ON, so they attack her hand. She gave a brilliant 40 minute speech with what, 3 words on her hand..Obama can’t talk to schoolchildren without a teleprompter in front of his face

27. ROFL - That sounds utterly deluded and desperate. Many people...
... will glom onto it, people who want to believe. I think this is hilarious. Obama's supporters have always been impressed with his qualifications, skill level, cool-headedness, thoughtfulness, etc., in much the same way that a hiring board might be impressed with a job candidate; and yet the ONLY people I ever heard refer to him as some kind of Messiah were the right wingers. And here now are the same fervent right wingers concocting the most absurd apologist fantasies about Palin, because they cannot allow themselves to entertain notions of her inadequacy, in much the same way that an overly-devoted parent might exercise denial by rationalizing away all the evidence that their child will never, ever be qualified for whatever dream it is they have for the poor kid.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

:eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes:

By the way, I don't remember Democrats cribbing notes on their hands to oh-so-cleverly bring attention to this particular abuse of teleprompter technology:

---------------------------------------------------

So, anyway....
"Talking off the cuff" my ass. Sorry, Sarah, folks don't believe that.
