Just Shut UP...and Do Something...Anything........
Rahm-boy has been whispering into Obama's ear that he should pay no attention to us Progressives because apparently we will always be there for Obama/Dems like some Pavlovian dogs. Then came MA. Now Obama is running all over the place giving campaign-style, rah-rah, "I fight for you" speeches. I used to love listening to him. Now I hit the "off" button. Don't patronize me. Didn't he get the message of MA which is DO something. I want action and tape across Rahm's mouth and I don't want campaign speeches. What is really upsetting is that Obama was unable to take 4 or 5 senators by the throat (a la LBJ style)and lead.

1. Right. Pretty talk is not an end unto itself, not a destination
Simply a starting point for larger actions.

And we're still waiting for those "larger actions..."

2.  If he was the only one voting, you'd get your wish. Too bad it doesn't
work that way, isn't it. And this blaming Rahm for everything is getting old. Unless you know for sure from your perch inside the WH, it's supposition.

3. I don't blame Rahm at all.
He serves at the pleasure of the President.

4. Then Obama needs
...someone else to "pleasure" him. Al Franken has figured out the "progressive" filter that is going on inside the WH. Action speaks louder than words---when it comes to asking people to please part with their money for an election!

5. That's not my point.
Rahm is there because he and Obama see the world in the same way. Rahm is only following orders.

6. Wow and the reality is you should take your own damn advice.
Instead of sitting around having revisionist history fantasies (which is exactly what they are) of what LBJ did (when he had like half the Republican caucus siding with him on big things), you could actually be supporting the public push against Senators that are holding up progress on key items.

8. Yep, they really sided with LBJ
on insignificant crap like Civil Rights! If you can't give 4 or 5 senators an offer they can't refuse, then you are not leading from a strong position. Gen. James Longstreet was told by Lee to please move to the back and not be so out there with the troops. Longstreet replied "You can't lead from behind". Obama should have been in front of the troops long, long ago.

10. LOL, battlefield examples make you sound even sillier.
The fact of the matter is, you can talk bullshit about leading all god damn day, but you have no clue what you even mean by that, other than you wanted to see Obama try to bully his way into getting something passed, which likely would not have worked either. I'm having a really hard time taking crap like this serious.

9. I understand your frustration
and demoralizing other Democrats is not going to help the party or achieve your goal.

We have to build public support for what it is that we wish and channel that support towards our representatives. It would also be useful to direct that voice towards Democrats who oppose what you wish to influence them.

If public support is perceived as low on a particular issue President Obama is going to have a tough time getting it done. Putting him in office is not enough. He needs our active and aggressive support.

I plan on evaluating if a want another term of President Obama when it's over. Pulling support from him now and switching to attacking him just creates the very scenario we all do not want to see unfold; he fails and Republicans return to power.
