The President "Ready to start over on healthcare reform"
you got to be kidding me!

surrendering sounds more like it.
He folded just like that, so easy
The republicans will do everything they can to make him look foolish.
And after that they will still not vote for it.

10. Here's what he actually said
Edited on Tue Feb-09-10 04:38 PM by sandnsea
"So I'm going to be starting from scratch in the sense that I will be open to any ideas that help promote these goals. What I will not do, what I don't think makes sense and I don't think the American people want to see, would be another year of partisan wrangling around these issues; another six months or eight months or nine months worth of hearings in every single committee in the House and the Senate in which there's a lot of posturing."

I'll get the whole thing up in a minute.

And if the left wing bloggers decide they like the "narrative", then they run with it no matter what the truth is. It's just disgusting. And then I'm supposed to respect them as more intelligent and honorable than the teabaggers? Yeesh. Not likely.

He said exactly the opposite of what your OP is trying to say. Just give it up already. When you have to play word games to make a point, it really doesn't help your argument at all.

63. As oppose to starting from scratch...
like you were trying to imply? Um... hell yeah! Being open to ideas, as far as I know, has never been considered a tantrum worthy event. Maybe you're just reading a bit too much into what Obama's saying... or what he didn't say.

4. Not
Obama spoke about his bipartisan talk scheduled for later this month. House Republicans have called for Obama to scrap the current health care bills in order for them to fully come to the table -- but Obama dismissed this idea.

"I'm going to be starting from scratch in the sense that I will be open to any ideas that help promote these goals. What I will not do, what I don't think makes sense and what I don't think the American people want to see is another year of partisan wrangling around these issues, another six months or eight months or nine months worth of hearings in every single committee in the House and the Senate in which there's a lot of posturing," he said. "Let's get the relevant parties together. Let's put the best ideas on the table. My hope is that we can find enough overlap that we can say, this is the right way to move forward even if I don't get every single thing that I want."

"Bipartisanship can't be that I agree to all the things that they believe in or want and they agree to none of the things that I believe or want," Obama continued.

19. Really. Those people bitch about Rahm,
but arm-twisting our own guys is one of the major reasons he's CoS. He can't arm-twist Republicans and I'm really, REALLY tired of everyone saying we should wave a magic wand to get Republicans to bend to our will. They're not beholden to the Democratic Party and they obviously DO NOT give a shit about their poll numbers, because the media willingly defends them.

What is the administration supposed to do? Smash in the door of the house chamber with a bulldozer?

31. Many things could be done. B*sh did all sorts of crazy crap to get things passed
I don't suggest Obama behave like B*sh but if you remember back to when the Repub's would get nervous about some legislation, Cheney would show up at the Senate. Have a meeting with them and they would all get in line.

Obama needs to show the average Joe that there is an emergency, we have solutions and the only reason we can't implement them is their Congress person. Every Congressional election year under B*sh there was some catostrophic conjured emergency, Congress got scared, and then they gave B*sh what he wanted.

Now the media was on B*sh's side and would carry out the conjuring. Obama doesn't have that but he can go out and make speeches and talk directly to the people. He is doing that, I just think he needs to do it more.

He needs to name names. For example do you know who put in the Senate version of the bill the text about taxing so called Cadillac plans? Do you know who demanded the Public Option be removed? Do you know who wouldn't go along with extending Medicare?

What I will not do, what I don't think makes sense and I don't think the American people want to see, would be another year of partisan wrangling around these issues; another six months or eight months or nine months worth of hearings in every single committee in the House and the Senate in which there's a lot of posturing."

The President did not say what you're saying he said! This seems to be a trend on DU today -- just make stuff up. The really sad part is there are people on DU who won't take the time to read for themselves and will go with what you headlie says. But you already knew that, didn't you?
