Blackwell accuses Obama of 'anti-Christian pogrom'
http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0210/Blackwell_Obama_nominations_further_pogrom.html?showall

Ken Blackwell, the former Ohio official and conservative leader, suggests on Fox News's website this week that President Obama's nomination of two liberal law professors to senior posts constitutes a "pogrom" against Christians.

Blackwell, a senior fellow at the Family Research Council and a fellow at Liberty University, compares attempts to challenge the tax exempt status of the Catholic Church and to deny public funding to groups that won't admit gays to the mass murder of Jews.

He writes:

What we are witnessing right now is an anti-Christian programmatic pogrom. What is a “pogrom” it’s the word that describes anti-Jewish raids by Cossacks and others in czarist Russia, but a programmatic pogrom best describes what is happening right now. These are not isolated attacks. And while we no longer have Cossacks to threaten, we now have left-wing bloggers who actually call themselves Kossacks (after the Daily Kos).

Blackwell focuses much of his attention on Dawn Johnsen, an abortion rights lawyer and academic named to head the Justice Department's Office of Legal Counsel. In a particularly strange choice, however, Blackwell puts central blame for the "pogrom" on a Jewish law professor and disability rights scholar, Chai Feldblum, Obama nominated to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

"If confirmed, she would be in position to pursue the pogrom nationwide," he writes of her gay rights advocacy.

17. it's more about fear that she'll reverse the radical lawlessness of the Bush Admin
She's got a mighty powerful job. She bold and smart enough where she'll right much the wrongs from the Bush* years.

That's what they're afraid of, so they have to come up with an excuse to turn their Coalition against Dawn and Obama.

Wasn't she originally held up because of her pro-life stance? Or something along that vein?

If they can't crucify her one way, they'll try another until something, they hope, sticks.

She made no secret how outraged she felt about the lawlessness when Bush* was in office - and I was pleased as punch when Obama nominated her.

Kick some ass, Dawn!

2. Normally I would guess that he just doesn't know what that word means
But in Ken Blackwell's case, I just chalk it up to the fact that the guy is balls-to-the-wall batshit "they squeezed the forceps too hard at birth" fucknuts crazy.

3. You know, everything I read makes me want to vomit these days
Honestly, I feel like the world has gone mad, or at least this country has gone mad ... and I feel like resigning from it all.

The rhetoric (not just Blackwell's, but everybody's) has gotten so hyperbolic and frenetic and, well, frankly insane that I really am beginning feel fearful. Make it go away.

6. This sort of dialogue must stop. If it continues
(on both sides) the whole nation will literally be at each other's throats. I have never seen anything like this. It has been ages since I have seen actual conversation about anything with anyone. The media have 2 or 3 persons of each party on and they just back and forth, back and forth, about the same thing everytime. It is getting old.

11. And it won't end until there is, for the first time, a religious war in this country.
It is a lesson that was learned all across Europe, and was the primary impetus for the liberalization of European culture - the liberalization that caused all the religious crazies to move to America.

Only after we've had a generation or two of slaughter over religious beliefs will we really understand WHY the founders intended a separation of church and state, a clear differentiation of public discourse and private belief.

In central europe it was the hundred-year war. In Britain it was Cromwell's interregnum. And it WILL happen here. I see no way of avoiding it.

16. The fundies choose not to remember that the reason the "Pilgrims"
came here was that no one in Europe could stand to have them around anymore. They were a really mean spirited group and their philosophical decendants still are.

13. "...and to deny public funding to groups that won't admit gays to the mass murder of Jews."
So, like, gays were lining up behind a velvet rope at Treblinka and some black-clad Waffen-SS bouncer wouldn't let them in to pump the carbon monoxide into the gas chambers?

And Blackwell is an ignorant ass.

19. Isn't it amazing how the "party of life" tends to draw those who would
want to bomb those who don't agree with them? And the so-called "party of intolerance" (according to conservatives) fights for the right of allowing opposing viewpoints to be aired? (ACLU)
