Beck's charts by the numbers
Edited on Fri Feb-19-10 03:20 PM by Bill219

A year ago, Glenn Beck rolled out the first in a long series of increasingly bizarre blackboard scrawls and graphics intended to link President Obama and the progressive movement to extremists and dictators and otherwise illustrate Beck's conspiratorial worldview. Throughout the year, he has used chalk, markers, and Fox News' graphics department to bring his theories to life. Media Matters for America has reviewed Beck's charts and detailed them below by the numbers.

"Sometimes I feel like Russell Crowe from A Beautiful Mind trying to lay it out for you."
-- Glenn Beck, September 23, 2009

check out all his insane rambling blackboards at the link above...it is really quite scary that this freak is one of the Teapublican party leaders

1. Wow. Did he make all those conspiracy theories himself?
He purposely seeks to confuse, simply by throwing crap out there with no proof.

5. What font is that?
The "G" and "t" have interesting curls....

Okay, I'm a bit of a graphic/design nerd, I admit it.

7. It looks like a recreation of a classic 60's movie font
I see what you mean.

3. I thought Letterman with his white socks and dress shoes was bad.
But Beck wears sneakers with his suit?

4. Is that the best Beck can do with connecting the dots?
There are too many dots to connect on the Republican/Conservative/Teabagger side.

6. A Beautiful Mind?

Is this tool really comparing himself to someone that was suffering schizophrenic delusions to make his argument? As I recall, the salient point of "A Beautiful Mind" is that none of what John Nash was imagining was real.

8. Delulsions of grandeur and schizophrenia are different things...
Nash was troubled, *and* brilliant. Beck, well...., he certainly can create elaborate connections.

9. Well, yes, but...
Nash's clinical diagnosis was paranoid schizophrenia which was the source of his own delusions. And yes, Nash is brilliant, leaving the only thing that Beck has in common with him is suffering from delusions, despite their source. I just think it's comical that Beck would use this as a comparison. He might as well just say, "Yes, I know the things I see and hear in my head have little basis in reality. That's why it's so important for you to heed my warnings!!!"
