Bayh Says New Sen. Brown May Be Part Of 'Cure'
(02-22) 09:35 PST WASHINGTON, (AP) --

Retiring Democratic Sen. Evan Bayh of Indiana says new GOP Sen. Scott Brown may be part of the "ultimate cure" for partisan gridlock in Washington.

Bayh said in an interview on "The View" on Monday that Brown's election from Massachusetts was the result of independents and moderates rising up and "saying they had enough."

2. Funny old cure for gridlock, if you ask me;

electing a Republican. Aren't they famous for being the party of "NO", or did I just imagine that?

8. Bayh really is positioning himself to run for President some day.
If Bayh believes Scott Brown is the cure for which ills are country then I might as well jump off the bridge now. Mr. #41 is going to do nothing but contribute stupid comments ("I sympathize with the guy who crashed into the IRS building"), offer nude centerfolds, and basically follow the same obstructionist Rethug crap that the party has been spewing out over the past year.

10. I don't think it is going to be someday, it is going to be 2012
By 2016 people will have forgotten about him. I think he makes his move now.

11. To the right of Obama. To weaken the Dem party. Is Bayh really a Republican?
I could make the case that he is.

14. I don't think he wil run against Obama in the primaries.
It is next to impossible to deny an incumbent President his party's nomination. I think he will run as an independent with a VP who is very rich and can fund much of the campaign. Under our campaign finance laws the president and VP on a ticket can contribute unlimited personal funds on their campaign and are not affected by the individual limits. Who he will hurt most will probably depend on who the Rs nominate.

18. He won't win as an independent either. But his goal may be to just weaken
the Dems. What other goal would he have?

20. I don't automatically dismiss independent runs
They have not been successful on the national level in the past but more and more people are registering as independents and are angry at both parties. Perot was leading in the polls in '92 before he got wacky and dropped out and then jumped back in. In the area I live party registration used to be Dems first, Rep second and Indies third. It is now Indies first, Dems second and Rep third.

13. If he does he'll have to run as a Republican
because he won't win a single primary as a Democrat.

16. ...where he will get absolutely no backing whatsoever.
I think Bayh wants to be President but I don't think he has the stones or the ability to mount any kind of successful independent bid.

Edited on Mon Feb-22-10 02:46 PM by Ganja Ninja
All of a sudden he's Joe Lieberman. It's no wonder the Democratic Party is so fucked up.

Actually the cure to gridlock is to stop electing faux liberals like Evan Bayh and clean up the Democratic Party.
