Hill 'open to the idea' of Senate bid
Rep. Baron Hill (D-Ind.), who returned this weekend from a weeklong trip to the Middle East to visit U.S. troops, said Monday that he is “open to the idea” of running for Senate.

In comments reported by the Louisville Courier Journal, Hill said that keeping his options open but that “doesn’t mean that I’m going to do it.”

Speaking to reporters after a roundtable meeting with Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood on the Ohio River Bridges Project, Hill said he would talk with Sen. Evan Bayh, who abruptly announced he wouldn’t run for re-election last week, and several other state Democrats before making a decision.

Rep. Brad Ellsworth announced Friday he would seek the nomination, becoming the immediate Democratic frontrunner to succeed Bayh.

1. Kabuki Theatre Hoosier-style
The powers here have already annointed Ellsworth. Hill is just playing his role as "being considered".

The remaining fly in the ointment is the burgeoning movement in support of John Mellencamp for Senate. If he actually says he wants to do it, look out. There could be a tsunami for him that the state party will find hard to ignore.

2. Ellsworth is not a shoo-in, he is against abortion rights and LGBT rights
I don't see any Democratic voter in a statewide election supporting a man that voted for Stupak Amendment and supports DOMA and DADT.
