Why has our President...

...never backed, at least a public option?

In poll after poll it is shown to be very popular.

Why has he acted this way against the public's will?

10. Because public option hurts the health isurers
plain and simple. The politicians value the large campaign contributions.
Much more $$$$ than us peons give them. Why is this difficult to comprehend?
