Deal Will Resign House Seat

Sources close to Peach Pundit says Rep. Nathan Deal (R-GA) will resign his seat in Congress to focus on his campaign for Governor.

Deal has called two press conferences for this morning to announce the news.

The back story: "The House Ethics Committee came down hard on Charlie Rangel last week. The next case up was to look at Deal's use of his Congressional staff to protect a no-bid State contract here in Georgia. The House ethics committee was due to release their findings in this case any day. Deal's resignation probably makes this go away."

Georgia law calls for a special election to replace Deal.

Deal is a proud birther (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/01/13/nathan-deal-birther-lette_n_422171.html) and we Georgians are happy to get the bastard out of DC, not that his replacement will be any more sane.

...As you would expect the Repub to be favored here. Right now, Deal generally places 2nd or 3rd in a crowded field. Barnes is our only hope of winning back the state house.
