Boozman files for U.S. Senate; Lincoln heckled

LITTLE ROCK — Republican U.S. Rep. John Boozman of Rogers filed for the GOP U.S. Senate race today, the first day of Arkansas’ political filing period.

When Lincoln arrived at the Capitol to file for re-election to a third term, she was greeted by Pulaski County Tea Party members chanting “Bye Bye Blanche” and holding homemade signs with messages such as “Senator Lincoln, Get In Touch With American People.”

“The votes she’s made on the health care reform bill illustrate to me she is not listening to the people of her state,” said David Bard of Little Rock.

Lincoln also was applauded by supporters.

While waiting in line to file, Lincoln said, “I welcome people into the debate. I welcome their ideas, I welcome their passion and the goals that they have. But I think probably if people take time to stop shouting and really visit, they’ll find out that we have more in common than we have differences.”

Lincoln said she believes in governing from the center.

“I’m about getting results, I’m not about acquiescing to extremes on either side,” she said.
