That's the bill they're going to vote on now.

4. She's talking about passing the current Senate version which doesn't have a PO.
Edited on Wed Mar-10-10 03:11 PM by stopbush
That's step one. Step two is going to reconciliation where the PO has a good chance of being included as it saves $.

Right now, Pelosi is trying to get assurances from the Senate that they will allow an up or down vote on the PO in reconciliation.

but it's better than the status quo despite what some think and if it weren't the GOP and Health care industry wouldn't be fighting it the way they are. If it goes down we won't see any serious effort at reform again for decades.

38. Nope, I am simply providing a common sense prospective
terms like "evil" tend to be absolute and extreme and more often than not will mark opinions or beliefs of a similar nature. Although if by "gone off the deep end in denial" simply means disagreeing with you, then I guess I qualify under those terms.

49. Prove to me that I'm wrong. Prove to me that mandated insurance coverage isn't another huge theft
from the American people-just as the bankster bailout was.

But you can't because EVERYONE knows that the mandate is bullshit that only serves the big businesses of health insurance, the medical industry and big pharma.

You think you are so clever nitpicking my posts over words like evil or my use of emoticons-but it's beyond obvious that all you are doing is targeting me, the messenger, instead of the message.

Epic fail dude. Epic fail.

54. To start with the bank bail out money is nearly all paid back (unless you count Freddie and Fannie)
so you are starting off with a false assertion (plus terms like "bankster" only betray a closed mind).

Now to go from there major liberal economics like Paul Krugman praise this bill, agencies that protect consumers from corporations like the Consumer Union endorse this bill. In fact other than you rather wild accusations (that provide no facts to back them up) there is NOTHING to indicate this is a bad bill.

66. She's waiting for the CBO scoring
from the Kos link I provided in the OP

She awaits the CBO numbers which could come as early as today. "My clock doesn't start ticking until the CBO numbers come," she said.

The important part is this:

when asked if she believed the House would end up having the votes to approve healthcare.

"If we took it up today, yes," the speaker quickly added.

71. The CBO scoring is for the fixes
Democratic leaders huddled Tuesday night in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office for the first of what will probably be many strategy sessions, as Congress tries to complete the year-long health-care reform debate before the Easter recess begins March 26.

Participants said that once the Congressional Budget Office delivers a final cost estimate on the fixes bill, possibly this week, Democratic leaders would begin lining up House and Senate votes.

"We have more information to go forward, but we have more questions," Pelosi (D-Calif.) said after the meeting, adding, "We're going to pass a bill."

72. Then why isn't it today? Oh I know, so the clock can run out and dems in congress won't get primary
challengers!

Gee, that's right, all the big states deadlines are in March through the end of April.. Calif. I believe March 12th..Florida April 30th I believe..seems Nancyyyyy has to protect those voting for this shitty bill to make sure they don't get primary challengers!

This is their big damn chess game folks..

If Nancy has the votes..then why not vote now Nancyyyyyyy?

Oh... you promised the dems voting for shit on a shingle bill they won't get challenged ..right Nancyyyyyyyyy?????

Thought so..this bill will not get voted on until the deadlines in the big states pass for registering for primaries against sitting congress people..count on that!!

Again..California..March 12th..Florida April 30th..look up the other big states..NY..Texas..Ill...go ahead look them up..and tell me when the vote will be..My estimate..after the Florida deadline..of April 30th.

79. Anyone can file to challenge someone in Congress. I am sorry, but
where is the big conspiracy? There is only a few wavering ones out there who are changing their minds.

80. That's plain tragic. We'll be the minority party for many election cycles over
this horrific atrocity, i.e., welfare for the insurance cartel.
