I do not understand what Bart Stupak and his friends are thinking..

The Hyde rule has been in place since the mid 80s.. the senate health care bill does nothing to change that.. Sooooo why the big fuss Bart?? He must know that:

1) To add his idea they would have to change the senate bill.. which would then have ro go back to the senate for a new vote abd would than be stopped as the democrats could not get it past a cloture vote in the senate..

2) His idea can NOT be added to the companion bill that will pass under reconciliation rules.. as an abortion change is NOT a financial charge so can not be added...

3) IF all agreed to have his idea as a separate bill it would NEVER pass the house..

the only conclusion is he wants health care to fail, but use the abortion talk as a cover for his action causing it to fail and there fore can say.. What!?!? Blame me!?!?! No No.. my opposition was about abortion.. if they JUST added my idea all would have passed..

2. Rachel Maddow's theory was he want's to get on TV....

Also that his actions would prevent private insurance companies from funding abortions. If any insurance company accepts any governmental money, they would by law be required to drop their coverage of abortion. In other words only women who can pay for it out of pocket can have an abortion. Once again the rich can do whatever they like...

The above is based on ideas presented in Rachel's show.

3. The "Family" pushed him to try and put extra restrictions on abortions AND help derail health care.
Any Dem associated with the Family makes me not want to trust anything they do.

Which is why I'm supporting his primary challenger even though I know it's a long shot. I just can't stand the thought of him getting away with this kind of behavior without any consquences.
