Omg - deja vu....Remember when O trickled out all those SuperDelegate Endorsements?
It was great strategy then and it's great strategy now. Trickle out these undecideds on HCR - makes breaking news each time - and gives us a chance to state our case for the public to hear !!

Way to go Obama ! (Sorry to the O dissenters...I still like him. Sure, I want everything he promised, but I am patient)

1. Pretty interesting theory Laura
Nico from the Huff Post tweeted that every time we hear someone is going to have a PC that it'll be another yes vote or why would they do it...

2. The big issue per Clyburn is the abortion language in the bill. If something can be worked
out to give Stupak his separate abortion bill, Pelosi and Obama would get those votes. It would die in the Senate anyway.

5. I liked the way you showed this pattern. I still love Obama too. Of course,
we want more, but both he and Americans live in the real
world. We just have to forge ahead to get a better health care
plan. The one thing, I think most of us would agree on, is
that
we don't want Repubs to win this fight or any other fight.
The nightmare would be of
epic proportions.

8. Yep...I came kicking and screaming - but I came. Came to the
realization that my perfect vision on election day - that everything we ever wanted would be slam dunk - was my own fantasy. But I bet a million Obama went thru the exact same realization at some point.

Now I look at it like if 100,000 people can see a doctor who couldn't before -that's a step forward.

My dad's best friend had colon cancer the same time Reagan did. Reagan, of course, had the best doctors in the world who cared for him. My dad's friend's doctor ignored his complaints of pain for months and he died. We have got to do everything we can to make healthcare as equal as possible for every human being.

12. Rahm Emanuel actually supported a public option
But you'd never know it reading DU. Sucks that it didn't stick, but I bet not 1 in 10,000 DUers knows that he wanted a public option right out of the gate.

17. I am not sure what your meaning is.
Edited on Fri Mar-19-10 04:26 PM by truedelphi
Are you upset that he turned to the dark side? Or are you thinking his Bad Brother Zeke made him give up his position, so he is blameless?

Anyway, I didn't know this about Rahm. But I did know Obama himself was a full supporter of Universal Single Payer HC, way back in 2004 while running for the Senate.

The only "if," "and," or "bu" that he included in the discussion at that time was that to get to the point where we could go for SPUHC, we would need majorities in the House and in the Senate and a Dem in the Oval Office.

19. Anyone with half a brain should support a PO. It is so simple
even Bill O'Reilly figured it out...it's the big elephant - profit. What is sad is that we allowed the people that don't care about other people (my new way of saying Republican) to create the curse words 'government takeover' we should never refer to PO again we should just call it good, "Health care minus Big Business Profit"

13. That's a great point. I certainly do have the same feeling now
as I did then. I was impatient but excited each time they released new endorsements. It really is a domino kind of thing. And it's kind of fun to watch.

15. Have you read Plouffe's book?
VERY good read. I didn't realize, at the time, how much the whole "not campaigning in MI and FL" was a strategic move on the President's part.
