Gallup: Democrats think the HCR bill helps almost everyone...

...and Republicans think it hurts almost everyone.

(Republicans concede that it might help the uninsured. Democrats allow as how it might inconvenience insurance companies.)

1. I wonder what the results would be if they polled DU.

2. I'm sorry, i just don't get how handing the insurance companies
30 million new customers is going to be BAD for them.

The most impact it will have on them will be to slightly alter the way they shuffle their paper work as the continue to maximize profits and minimize losses. Maybe a CEO or two will take home a 2.4 million dollar bonus instead of a 2.6 million dollar bonus. THAT will show em.

5. Health care is not a zero sum game
The bill can be good for both citizens and the insurance industry. I know we would all rather see the health insurers burn, but even this bill is just barely passing (hopefully).

6. It's really not that hard to understand.
The 30 million new 'customers' will not be paying enough into the system to cover the funds being paid out for their health care.

7. You really think that the insurance companies are not going to be
able to game the system that THEY created?

They WROTE this bill. They already know a hundred ways to avoid paying out. Every one of them perfectly legal.

Not all, or even most, of these 30 million are people with special problems, pre-existing conditions, non-fatal chronic illnesses. When I was young I went for 20 years without insurance because I was young and healthy - and so are, I'm sure, a great many of these currently uninsured. They'll be paying in and never have to collect.

Don't forget, this bill still leaves 16 - 25 million uninsured - and with the expanded coverage, there is a far better chance that the 'financially unsound' will be among that group, rather than the new 30 million covered.

If this is so horrible for the insurance companies, how come their stocks are rising, rather than falling? The prospect is for INCREASED profits, not loss of revenue.
