We should really milk this GOP obstructionism thing...
all the way to November - and make some moves from the Al Franken playbook.

All the Senate needs to do is draft a few non-controversial bills that would be political poison to oppose - like Franken's anti gang-rape bill.

Any ideas?

1. Another Jobs bill.
I would love to see the repugs oppose a jobs package.

3. Even a single item - like closing an offshore tax loophole for corporations.
Let the records show that Senators Cronyn, etc are for offshore tax loopholes.

19. That is probably my top choice. Obama sure talked about closing
it a lot during the campaign.

9. It'd help if they called it that ...

I mean, put it right in the title without all the meandering around the point.

Short title: A Bill to Create Jobs
Long title: A Bill to Create Jobs; Woe Be Unto Ye Who Votes Against This

2. Waiting to see if they oppose the treaty with Russia.
A huge step in US/Russia relations, but it has to be approved by the majority of the Senate....

In this treaty Russia will help keep Iran in check.

This should be interesting.

4. Or how about trotting out something they drafted before 2006?
Then letting them vote on it first.

It seems only obvious to take the advantage over the stupid gop game plan.

7. Like Wall Street regulation reform perhaps?
Something that I dont think has dawned on anyone. The WH is about to move full-force into the ultimate populist issue with the battle to heat up as we go into the busiest months of the election season.

And, once again, the GOP is poised to fight them ... at their own peril.

11. I'd be happy to see that: The Democrats proposing/passing it and the GOP

going down in defeat opposing it.

8. As you suggest, non-controversial bills are the way to go...
Why not a repeal of the Gramm–Leach–Bliley Act (the one that repealed Glass-Steagall)?

15. FDR-esque jobs and bank reform bills...
Even the unemployed right wingers that hate Obama would have a hard time whining when they are given a construction job during these hard times. And don't tell me there is no need for fixing our infrastructure. The roads I drive on to work every day are falling apart. If that's the case in my town, I'm sure it's the case across the country. Meanwhile, the banks seem to be the one thing both the right and left are pissed off about at the moment. Get a real piece of reform through Congress that helps the average citizen and it will be extremely difficult for the Republicans to campaign against it.

16. I have this Republican friend - Hardcore
He was over doing some work and after we finished he started in with the politics... made a couple benign comments and we started making fun of Palin, then I told him, 'your party is a mess.' His response FUCK THE REPUBLICANS, Obama should push through a jobs bill, energy, whatever, a Manhattan Project for something, if he gets fifty votes and Biden so be it.
