I saw the guys on ESPN getting on him too this morning. If he owned a team like the other guy, I'm sure he would throw better.

Who scores less than 40 in bowling?

That's just nuts.

46. I also bowl in the 40's
but then I only bowl once or twice a decade. Seriously, there are more important things to discuss then how any president pitches.

but that does not translate very well with an actual 12 pound ball

22. I'll tell you who scores less than 40 points in bowling.
Left-handed guys who only have right-handed balls available.

And who have never bowled.

It is quite likely the President, who's very fit, would have done a LOT better had that bowling alley possessed bowling balls drilled for left-handed bowlers.

Also, I suspect the President threw badly on purpose, so those who love to criticize him have something meaningless on which to concentrate. I wouldn't put it past him; if being self-effacing makes him more charming to a voter, he'll be self-effacing. If he senses being brash helps him, he's brash. Very smart guy.

43. My average bowling score is in the 40 range.
One time, about 10 years ago, I rolled a score of 101. I felt invincible. I broke a 100!! Time to go pro, right? Of course, I was so excited about that score that my next game was a 29.

is not even on the radar screen. At least he didn't throw it in the dirt like Poppy Bush once did.

8. President Obama is one of the most athletic and physically graceful presidents in recent history
So he threw a baseball high. Big deal.

Several Nationals pitchers followed him and hardly threw any better than he did, as evidenced by the 11-1 butt whoopin.

9. I really do not get the importance of a President having to be athletic
It is beyond stupid - and completely unrelated to the job. Not to mention, Obama is great at basketball.

Who makes these rules - and decides that it is ok to fall off bikes nearly every time you ride, but not ok to show less than perfect form throwing a baseball.

It was fine with me that he even had the time to do it.

He is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't according to the Rethugs Media.

I saw some positive coverage of the throw however.

What does everyone find so bad they have to keep ragging him about it? It's not as if it hit the dirt in front of home plate or the pitcher had to leave his position to go after it.

Some people have a lot of time on their hands...

42. The first pitch brings out the worst in everyone!
Edited on Wed Apr-07-10 03:24 PM by SoxFan
My brother, who hosts the afternoon drive show on a local radio station, was invited to throw out the first pitch at a minor league game (NH Fisher Cats, a Blue Jays farm club). He's been playing ball most of his life. He was a decent ptucher in high school, and still plays in a men's league every summer.

He spent a week practicing for his big day. He warmed up with stretches and a little long-toss.

And he bounced the thing eight feet in front of the plate.

And being the supportive older sibling that I am, I laughed my ass off and promptly emailed our entire family.

"Oh, don't worry, there couldn't have been more than 4,000 people laughing at you!"

Edited on Wed Apr-07-10 04:38 PM by Arugula Latte
I doubt we'll recover from Bush's stinking, putrid, corrupt presidency for many years.

And, seriously, the mentality of people who care about this stuff -- really, truly care about bad pitches -- has got to be on par with a slime mold, which means they're Teabaggers, Freepers and Repukes already.
